I originally thought that all mobil x1 series cards where beter than go 6000 series cards but after reading the comparison thread, I know that this is not the case.

So, does that mean that the 6800 is more powerful than the x1600 since the 6800 is a high end and the x1600 is performance???

What the heck does the series number mean if all x1 and 7000 series cards aren't better than all x and 6000 series cards??

(P.S. does anybody know how many pipelines the 6800 has? i'm guessing 12)

If you read the thread you probably saw a million of my posts trying to show how close they really are. Personally, I would take the x1600, not just cause I am a ati fan but because it is newer and still almost equally powerful, if not more in some cases. Albeit they are pretty close to equal, the ati probably takes less power and can do hdr and sm3.0. Not sure if 6800go can do hdr, but it can do sm 3.0

    flat out?

    According to that thread...

    3dmark05:

    X1600 256mb 3700-4100
    6800 256mb 2800-3900

    That is better?

But if you look at it, 6800 is a year old now. And it still is one of the great cards on the market. That is what I call a good buy.
