To play games like DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2 instead of having a 128MB ?
Will the game be ugly or unplayable or it will still play fine.

The GeForce FX Go5700 will probably play the game better than an ATI GPU because the game was designed with the Nvidia cards in mind. 64MB should be more than enough for this game. My brother has an Nvidia GeForce 3 card w/64MB and was capable of playing & finishing Doom 3, but he had to lower the settings. The 5700 has more features & computing power than the Geforce 3, so you're gonna get a better and faster picture. The 128MB may help overall, but if you can't afford it, you should be fine with 64MB, IMHO.

Half Life 2 will run better on the ATI card. Since its a laptop that your purchasing, the 64 mb will produce poor fps playing Doom 3 or HL2. If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend that you get the 128 mb card.

conflicting opinions, i see.
Doom 3 will definitely run better on an Nvidia card, but it doesn't make a significant difference. Get whichever is more cost-effective.
64 megs would work fine, but to get the "doom experience" 128 is better. To be totally honest, it wont make a big difference.
