This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Is a Quad Core REALLY Beneficial for Gaming?

    The problem with quad-cores is that even most RTS games, which are the pinnacle of CPU intensive, don't support more than 2 cores. I don't even believe the latest Empire: Total War supports it, let alone Sins of a Solar Empire, or even the much older turn-based Galactic Civilizations II, which get get very CPU intensive if you tell it to (considered the best AI of any game).
