its a cool game but i honestly think your given way too many powers. mainly that cloak, you can just always use it and pretty much never get caught. once you get i would say mid point in the game it starts getting much more interesting although the cloak kinda makes you overpowered but not by as much as in the beginning of the game. i apologize if this sounds confusing but im trying to put it in a way as not to spoil the game for yah.
i dont think its anything like the original farcry. the only thing i see that they have in common is the dense jungle/forest whatever you wanna call it. -
crysis was my very first FPS game for me, so it was very epic.
nah, just kidding. it's alright.. only the final boss is 'kind' of epic-ish.. -
I thought it was pretty fun. Not the best FPS gameplay wise, but still fun overall.
-
it was fine in a generic-FPS-Halo-with-better eye-candy sense, but then it decided to go "zomg random aliens for no reason" (quite early on, so no spoilers) and that's why it's benchmark only for me.
-
Yeah, I thought it was lots of fun. It's flawed fun, of course - most encounters are too easy, the enemies aren't that varied, and the aliens are just boring to fight - but it's a fun game.
The best part is that you're given so many different options for taking out the enemy. You can:
- snipe them,
- silently take them out one by one with a rifle or a pistol,
- charge in guns-blazing, lure them into a trap and then grenade them,
- lure them into a trap and then chaingun them,
- sneak up behind them then grab them and chuck them off a cliff,
- shoot an exploding barrel once and then chuck it at the enemy in strength mode,
- chuck dumpsters at the enemy in strength mode,
- punch enemies in the face to death,
- speed mode then run from enemy to enemy punching, grabbing, throwing, or shooting,
- speed mode plus shotgun,
- speed mode run up to grab an enemy then retreat into the foliage and wait for his buddies to come looking for him,
- king kong an enemy by grabbing him, jumping up on top of buildings then dropping him,
- taking out a group of baddies by grabbing the first and throwing him at his buddies,
- taking out a group of baddies by grabbing one and using him as a literal meat shield,
I'm sure I could think of others if I tried. Probably that's why aliens are so boring to fight - you either shoot them until they die from bullet poisoning, or you grab them and throw them (which kills them instantly).
But yeah, I'd say it's fun to play. Closest experience in gaming to what it would be like to be a Predator (and definitely fun to re-create some of the scenes from those movies!). -
It's pretty good. Like Histidine said though, fighting the aliens is pretty boring...the humans are so malleable.
I think the majority of the hype of this game is the graphics, which in itself isn't really all that impressive. I'd say the only thing Crysis is best at is Shaders, and Shadows, and maybe Water Quality. I've seen better textures in Half Life 2, lol, and the AI is so stupid you'd think they'd have transplanted the brains of dogs into them to make them smarter.
Storyline is your typical B-Grade sci-fi movie. It's nothing special. The game itself is fairly short, and kind of anti climatic. It gets real boring toward the end there. -
I actually thought it was quite original and entertaining. The variety of ways to complete your objectives is nice...I remember one mission where the goal was to get from one end of a river to another, and I completed it by simply entering Speed mode and sprinting the whole way, skipping all the firefights. It took me not even 10 minutes when it would have taken easily an hour to grind through all the fights.
The weapon attachment system is nice too. It was pretty cool how I could hot-swap different sights and scopes, under-barrel grenade launchers, tranq darts, silencers, lasers and optics as well as switching between normal and incendiary ammo, and semi- and full automatic fire modes. With all the mods available, a single weapon (e.g. the SCAR or FY71) could be adapted to just about any situation. At long range I could use an ACOG and silencer on my rifle in semi-auto mode to pick off guards from way back, then switch to a red dot sight and full-auto, take off the silencer and charge right in.
The suit modes were a neat idea as well. Granted, you're probably going to stick to Armor mode the majority of the time, but sometimes switching it up in the middle of a fight can make things easier, or at least more interesting. Nothing like running out of ammo in the middle of a firefight, then switching to Strength mode and just beating the crap out of everyone. Strength is also great for sniping as well as full-auto fire; it significantly reduces recoil and scope sway with all guns. Speed mode is also nice for sprinting ridiculous distances in almost no time. The only mode I never used much was Cloak; it was hardly effective if the enemies saw you even once, and if you do anything while it's active it instantly drains to zero.
I highly recommend Crysis (and Warhead too), especially if your graphics card can afford the high-end eye candy settings, but it still plays (and looks) great on minimum settings. -
Cloak was my most used mode...

Warhead was a lot more fun IMO. I never got past the caves level in the original Crysis lol, always got so lost. The game gets kinda boring after the aliens kick in IMO since they're really repetitive. I think it's more realistic than CoD since the enemy doesn't die with 2 shots ... Also the ability to modify your guns on the go is awesome. The different modes make it interesting too. I think the best 3 things about this game over other FPS are the graphics, gun mods, and suit mods.
-
i still play crysis and warhead once in a while, and i have had them since they came out. suit modes and weapon combinations let you defeat a scenario in different ways. unlike a number of recent fps, the games will take more than a few hours to play.
when i go to another game right after playing crysis, i find myself wishing i had the suit. -
-
its a lot of fun.. something different in a way but i didn't finish both because i got scared by the aliens lol... the cons are that u need a super set up to play on high settings... but if u don't mind the aliens , u'lll find it fun.
-
fred2028: bingo. CoD has become too linear, short--both of which hurt replayability and game value.
crysis bags down in a few places, but the game is so long with so many scenarios that the bad parts do not effect the overall value of the game. -

I enjoyed Crysis. I also like the mods and the single player maps for it.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
call of duty may be short and linear but it is also high intensity and well scripted the entire time.
crysis is not. i didn't enjoy crysis very much and couldn't finish it. -
I just finished Crysis last night, lol. I thought it was a solid game. Gonna start Warhead perhaps tonight and it will probably take me another 6 months or so to finish. I wish I had more time to play.
Anyway, I thought the aliens were whatever but not totally boring. Of course the humans are much more fun to fight (nice description Histidine).
If you are into multiplayer, also give Crysis Wars a shot. I've played that game a lot more and I find it very fun. I could never get into MW2 mulltiplayer.
I'd say if you want to make it a little more fun, up the difficulty level a little. Then it's pretty awesome. -
It's probably my favorite game. I like diverse ways you can play it. I've played it completely unarmed only using a weapon when required as part of the mission objective. Once without stealth and having to try to kill everything that moves. And once with a disabled suit.
Hours of entertainment. -
I loved the game. The epicness is epic. I played for hours on end.
[EDIT]...and the I bought Warhead...and did it again. -
I play the game even today and take different approaches to the missions. It´s one of the best games for a very long time for me and the graphics is just overwhelming.
-
I find Crysis to be pretty awesome gameplay and graphics-wise, I'll definitely be looking forward to Crysis 2 which I expect to be amazing.

I feel the scale of AC2 is greater than Crysis and is overall a better game.
-
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I enjoyed it quite a bit. The alien parts aren't as fun as the jungle stuff though. Play it on Delta, it's much better that way.
I can see what you are trying to get at. They are both open world murder simulators, but that's where the similarity ends. Maybe you like AC2 better, and that's fine, but you have to compare apples to apples. -
AC2 was a murder simulator? I thought murder was just an annoying minigame you were forced to play every couple of hours or so in between bizarre but entertaining platforming.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
You can really have fun with it if you experiment a little. Like my latest assassination was on a ship. It was impossible to eliminate all the guards on the ship and you aren't allowed to be detected at all. So when I got as many as possible, I poisoned the last guard I had access to, who then caused a wonderfully hilarious distraction while I snuck around the other side and killed my target. Then smoke bombed myself and escaped unscathed. Great fun imo. -
Got my gaming laptop not even a week ago, crysis warhead and TF war for cybertron were the first games I got and I cant stop playing either one. Crysis is amazing, the ai is pretty top notch, playing on normal to get a feel of the game. They flank like crazy and manouver like units should. Except enemies in vehicles, they are pretty dumb. Even the Alien AI is crazy just the way the move in the air to flank and avoid fire makes it difficult sometimes to take down. The best is when they blend graphics and gameplay, enemies use cloacking devices aswell and if you dont notice the wavey stuff in the air your toast most of the time. Great game so far, except for poor optimization.....

Crysis was the most boring game ever.. i just played the first level, the awe of looking at cool graphics just got me that far.. after that, stopped playing and never touched it again..
-
I just started going over it again for the second time and it is a lot more fun for some reason. The first time I was just trying to get it over with to see what's next, but this time you can really take your time, explore and just have fun blowind dudes up. For example, I just realized you can shoot the gas tank in the cars and they blow up. Or shoot the back wheel like in the trailer and see them roll of the cliff
Whoever said the second time around feels like you are The Predator was right. -

Crysis is good, Crysis Wars is awesome and addicting. Find yourself a good server and have a blast. As long as no hackers join the game it's sure to be fun and keep you coming back. I've been playing Crysis Wars now for over a year every day, it's pretty awesome.
-
I absolutely loved this game until I saw an Alien....
-
Its ok... I mean, it has an odd story line and will absolutely murder your computer but it sure is different. Its worth playing through.
-
I bought it because it hit the bargain bin at $10, and I was pleasantly surprised. The multiplayer is nothing great (read: it sucks and is boring), but I enjoyed the single player.
-
I just got back into crysis warhead and I am having fun.
-
I started playing it my first time today. I think its been amazing so far. My laptop obviously blows it through graphics. Everything high.
Aside from the graphics, I think the nanosuit is really fun. Cloaking, speeding through enemies, ect. Gives you a lot of variety. People who say its over powered just don't know how to have fun with this game.
I recommend this game and im not even done with it! Ill be picking up crysis 2 when its out. -

I thought the multiplayer from Crysis and Crysis Warhead was the same one except Warhead's had a couple more of maps... I didn't read it anywhere, but for some reason I always thought it was this way.
What's the difference between them? -
I'm interested in knowing the difference as well. Might convince me to pick up Warhead (although, isn't the single player pretty much the exact same game?).
-
i Just beat warhead, too short great game great physics great gameplay gonna play through on the second hardest setting now though.
-
Warhead's multiplayer is a standalone game called Crysis Wars; it's not directly integrated into Crysis Warhead. -
Right, but what I wanted to know was the difference between both multiplayer modes, since from the posts here I gather they are indeed very different?
I suppose I could find out for myself but maybe an answer will come before I sit down and play tonight (if I get to). -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
Its great fun once you get past tweaking the settings to get best performance/eye candy
which can take a while! Looking forward to crysis 2 and hoping it can take proper advantage of quads.
-
If I buy Warhead, is Crysis Wars included on the disc?
-
Yes, Crysis Wars is part of Warhead.
-
i liked psycho's character in warhead. plus there are less aliens and more koreans to blow up.
Is crysis actually fun
