My current GPU in my alienware m15x is dieing, the memory on it I believe has become corrupt and is malfunctioning. I have been searching online for a replacement GPU and could not find one anywhere except for ebay. I have decided on purchasing the AMD 7970m GPU, because it is in my price range and I feel it is not too old to be replaced in a year or two.
How safe is it to buy a GPU from ebay?
This is the current GPU I am looking at...
The price ranges for the AMD 7970m are pretty big also, range from $300-$500. Why is there such a big gap for the same device?
Any help would be awesome...

It should work, I believe. You're a little better off asking this over at the alienware forums though. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The 7970M will work.. Check the M15x forums for which version to buy.. Clevo cards something cause issues and dell ones are hard to find.. I think that in the M15x the Dell card should work perfectly.. I know that there is someone selling 7970Ms from Dell on the NBR markeplace.. It would be worth also asking and buying from him as it will be a good deal and safer.. Link to his thread below..
