I don't know much about my HP laptop's graphics card except that it doesn't have the technology to play some of my son's games - vertex and pixel shading?? It has a PCMCIA express slot, and I'm wondering if it's possible to buy a graphics card which installs into the slot and run the graphics through that card instead of the one integrated onto the motherboard? If so, what do you call these cards and what type/where to buy?

Sorry if I got the terminology wrong. Thanks for any help. Terry

Nope, there was speculation about such technology, but so far nothing has been made.

99% of the time, unless you have a Dell model(a specific one), then the graphics card is not upgradable.

depending on which HP laptop you've got. If it's the HP 4000 series I believe it had an option for the X700 card which you might be able to install. Good luck.

No - if the laptop had integrated graphics to begin with (the default option for the dv4000 was the Intel GMA900), you can't change that. It's been discussed many times.
That pretty much sums it up.
