Sorry for the stupid question, but I am not familiar with laptop+screen compatibility.
My questions:
1) If for example I want to upgrade a 120 Hz 40pin eDP screen to a 144 hz 40pin eDP screen, is there a chance it will work? Or there is no telling and it depends on the BIOS/vBIOS if it will support it or not?
2) If the 120 Hz panel support G-Sync, will G-Sync work with the 144 Hz panel too? Or G-Sync will be disable since the laptop has shipped with a 120 Hz screen so only the 120 hz panel is white listed in the vBIOS ?
I am asking these questions because I have a laptop with a 120 Hz G-Sync screen and I want to buy a new panel because this one has a dead pixel. The price difference is minimal and if a 144 Hz panel+G-Sync would work it would be a better idea to buy that.
Or there would be compatibility issues with the BIOS and vBIOS ?

Assuming the BIOS does not have a panel whitelist, you would at the very least lose G-Sync and possibly brightness control.

Gsync on laptops is simply nothing more but adaptive sync + Ngreedia DRM. Nothing more.
You either need to have the panel whitelisted in the Bios with a gsync cookie, or a custom Prema Bios that has all those cancer restrictions removed. On Desktops, the Ngreedia cancer is the actual gsync module.
Is it possible to upgrade a G-Sync screen?
