I have done this many times and been wondering if it is safe to shut down the laptop after gaming. I spend around maybe 3-4 hours a day, gaming(rarely 5/6 hours) then my fan would be constantly running and it quietens down after some minutes.

I would shut down the laptop so I can head to bed and not sure if it can cause damage to the cpu or components also will turning off the laptop, cool down it or should I stay up long enough for the fans to quiet down?

I play battlefield 3/4 so its CPU intensive

Nah it should be fine... shutting it down will cool the components even faster actually.

Not shoot, he said shot. He is obviously drinking with his laptop. After hard gaming, lets do shots.

The gpu and cpu cool down very fast after you remove the load from them. Just let then fan run for ten seconds, sitting at the desktop, after gaming to drop the temps. You could also run a cpu/gpu temp monitiring program to see for yourself how fast the temps drop.

Turn it off whenever you want, it doesn't matter. The CPU and GPU cannot physically get any hotter once the computer is shut down.
