i heard the SLi does not work on vista yet
-
Untrue, there used to be a lot of problems but it does work now. I'm using Vistax64 Ultimate and 2x7950GTX's in SLI, driver 169.09.

The new drivers, 160.xx series, fix the SLI problem

SLI works in Vista just fine, but performance is still not as good as in XP. -
would it be better for me to get vista ultimate 64 or home premium 64?
-
In terms of performance, I don't think it would matter. Thus, unless you plan on doing business-scale security, networking, and/or encypting tasks, I'd say go with Home Premium and save the $160.

Vista just released a new multi-GPU hotfix today. Also, Nvidia released Forceware 169.13 (beta). Now we wait for Crytek to release their patch.. :/

XP > Vista.
That's besides the point though.
It wouldn't matter as posted. Ultimate is little more than Premium with the Business functionality plus some other little features. Ultimate is a bad value in comparison to the Home Premium and Business offerings. -
XP is definitely better in terms of performance, but seeing that 8800GTX is a DirectX 10 card...I would be a little hesitant to give up the eye candy...lol.
Is it true about the dual 8800GTX and vista?
