Moderately stupid question from me :).

Apparently it's running at 475/700 on stock.

I'm running an Asus G1S-A1 and the card has 256mb of vram.

I noticed a lot of people that were OCing had results like 650/500... just wondering if they downclocked the ram or something to hit a higher core..

Like I said, moderately stupid question to begin with, as I assumed the 256mb model was GGDR3 anyway.

I'm just wondering why people would bother downclocking the ram to hit higher core speeds, and whether or not it has any impact on performance.

I'll run a 3dmark in a few... gotta download it :(. For now my performance index is 4.8 (limited by ram + hdd)

Were they reaching those OC's on a G1s? A good overclock for you to shoot for would be 525/750. Usually, it's not of any benefit to downclock the memory and overclock the core (I believe). I would ask further in the Asus G1s Owner's Lounge, if you haven't already.

Not all 256 MB GTs are GDDR3...
