Ive bought an Asus a8jm for 9 month now and ive had overheating issues from the geforce 7600go from the start. Ive never overclocked the card and my laptop usually shuts down at about 95c gpu temp. Recently i was playing WOW and i started to see major artifacts and a few seconds later it overheated and shut down. after starting it up again my screen started flashing on and off. I let it cool of and formated wich didnt solve anything.
It now shuts down at about 60c.

Is it fried? is it possibel to break a GPU halfway so that it still works but just not as well?

    read the Cooling Guide

Definitely open up the panels on the bottom and take a good look for dust clogs and clean them out with Qtips and compressed air.

If you see it downclocking around 60C degrees, then its probably been either damaged from overheating.

Get it RMA'ed if thats not it.
