    Hi everybody,

I've been pondering upgrading the graphics in my newish laptop. Right now it's got a Radeon HD4650 in it with 512mb of GDDR3. However, I've been looking all over the place to find out of its MXM-II or MXM-B, etc. Does anybody here know? What's the best current card I could upgrade to (if possible)?

I'm fairly happy with the performance of the 4650 but I'm curious.

Thanks and any input is greatly helpful.

I don't think its really possible. As an aside, how do you like that computer. I'm looking into that model myself.

The KHLB2's GPU is soldered on the mainboard, so it's not upgradeable.

Even if you did manage to upgrade it, I doubt you would be able to find a higher performing GPU to buy. The only ones I've seen for sale are 9600M GT's and 3650's.

    Cheers...

I like it. I was originally going to buy a MacBook Pro instead, but figured I'd give the Compal a try since I could get more powerful hardware for half the price. It gets ~7300 in 3dmark 06 in Windows 7. There seems to be some slight compatibility issues with the ATI Drivers and Windows 7 (go figure). Every once in a while the video may freeze using flash player or silverlight. Got it from power notebooks. (P8700, 4 gigs ram, 320 gig hdd)

TRF - I'm not doubting what you say, but how did you find out?

    Thanks for the responses :).
