So I heard sleeping dogs and thought meh. Read and reread the reviews then decided to pick it up. at first I was thinking shenmue 3. I have 5 hours logged in this game and the fun factor is unreal never had so much fun, and thats what video games are for. the graphics blew me away at night time with the cars reflecting everything similar to gta IV enb series mod and the wetness look was similar to bioshock the faces are also pretty good considering their are thousands of characters and not just one face to draw. driving is awesome it feels so fast even faster than grid and the camera sweeps fast enough so that you dont need to use the mouse while driving, and on top of that you get shaking which adds to the intensity. the game is huge. story line is perfect similar to mass effect 3.

its basically an open world game that has some elements that are better than any game in existance in fact I bet gta V wont be as good as sleeping dogs already is.

I just wonder why a game like this isnt getting more props. its like the old school hardcore gamer has been sucked into the niche of only getting games that are promoted by the name.

whats your thoughts on the game.

Its a good game. It's expanded on what GTA and saints row have done. I don't think it revolutionary in any respect.

    A solid 9/10.

It's an ok game. I finished it a few weeks ago. I don't know what element of it you think are better than any game in existence. Care to elaborate?

While I enjoyed the story all throughout the game never did it once gave me, the player, any sort of choice in the type of character that I wanted to play as. GTA 4 was very good in this department where you were able to form and break relationships with characters that you felt a certain way about. In sleeping dogs the game just takes you for a ride and doesn't really give you narrative flexibility that has increasingly become the standard for open world games. Plus the game ends without a good resolution for many of the characters.

On the positive side I did enjoy the combat and nice graphics are never a bad thing to have.

Im looking forward to XCOM Enemy Unknown as well but it seems Dishonored is shaping up to be quite epic as well.

    My vote is for GW2.
I don't think anything has so radically redefined its genre as GW2 this year.

I keep reading the fantastic reviews and posts for this game, but for some reason just can't get into it... I bought it a few weeks ago, and played it initially for a few hours, but that's it... never got hooked or drawn in.... I plan to give it some more time once I play a few other games that really hooked my attention, but for whatever reason sleeping dogs to me was a total snoooze.

Performance was good, graphics looked really nice, but just didn't love the feel but not really sure why. I hope to get back into it at some point soon to play further.

Game of the year is whatever you want. So if you think it's game of the year, it's game of the year. The title game of the year is so subjective that it's a pretty stupid award. Whenever I see a game with game of the year on it, I wonder according to who? Gamespot? Gamespot likes whatever game that has the most money trailing behind it. PCGamer? They thought DA2 was better than Witcher 2 which I just find ludicrous. IGN? Please IGN is about as awesome as Fox News. Destructoid? I don't think they even play games, they are just hardcore dedicated trolls.

So who cares which game gets GOTY. Most of these magazines, game review sites, critics view of what the best a game has to offer completely differs from my view. And probably yours. For example, Skyrim got GOTY award from many of them. Yeah right... I wouldn't give any game from Bethesda GOTY. There was no story in it, it's about 4 hours of mumble jumbo. The combat is uninteresting, and the amount of bugs and performance issues is just astonishing. I much preferred Witcher 2. Witcher 2 was a PC game for me, Skyrim was just a glorified console port.

This post pretty much proves that it's subjective.

So you'd recommend this game? I've been looking at purchasing it but just might do so tomorrow if the game is as good as you claim it is.
I'm planning on buying Max Payne 3 also but I've been pretty distracted by NBA 2K13 as of late.

Tell me, how is driving? Is there a modding community? Is the storyline forgettable and bland? How's the combat?
