Im getting very curious now as how my laptop is behaving. I have an HP and at first i loved it, but as time goes by im getting weird little issues here and there. I dont mind to much about nit pick stuff like stuttering music or what not anymore, but my performance on BF2142 seems to be getting poorer ever day... first of my laptop heats up ALOT! maybe this is why im getting such bad performance. I thot about getting a cooling bay to help(if it helps performance which is what I ultimately want) Second, my applications seem to be taking quite a while to load or switch to or whatever, as if it was a Pentium M or something with 1gig or ram... Cmon I have 2 gigs and even then it still gives a hard time multitasking. Basically I need advice as to what I should do to run my laptop at top notch optimacy. (I do play alot of games and is why i need help :) )Please someone help.... MUCH APPRECIATION

if it's getting hot and running slow

-make sure you're not blocking the exhaust or intake vents
    -clean out dust
-defrag/run anti spyware/run virus scan (possibly reformat)

Get the cooling bay..or check the temps first. If they are resonable..I would still get the cooling bay. It is nicer to have a cooler PC, also most keep the laptop at a great typing angle.

Please read through the cooling guide. Perhaps your fan needs cleaning or a vent is blocked as mentioned above.

Have you installed anything new lately?

ever since i got the laptop(which was about a month ago) ive downloaded music(clean no virus), installed games. But i mostly play BF2142. Ive also installed a bluetooth adapter, active-sync for my smartphone, and thats about it. everything else was already on my external hard drive. I dont really like installing new stuff unless i need it or i trust it...

BTW, how do i check the temperature and whats reasonable?

I would recommend downloading Notebook Hardware Control. You can use it to check your CPU and GPU temp. Another nice feature of Notebook Hardware Control is that you can set the clock speed which should help keep your laptop cooler when you are not playing games.

I agree, Notebook Hardware Control can give you a cpu temperature monitor in the taskbar which I have found very useful on previous machines with heat concerns.

Some Core Duos do seem to heat up. I've seen plenty of worries users posting idles of low 60s and load temps of low 80s degrees C. If your temps are anything like that you should really consider the above advice and get a cooling pad. There's plenty of advice for those in the cooling guide and the accessories section of the forum.

Pcs get hotter during games, when their is more load on the gpu.

By not getting a cooling pad for your pc, you're lowering it's lifespan greatly...
