Hey I've bought a new laptop and I was just wondering is the 8400m a good card to run games? I can run CS:S all maxed and get 60/70fps.
I wanna run games like Crysis.
    Cheers.

Please don't expect to play Crysis with that GPU, unless you're ready to play with the lowest settings. :)

"good" is subjective. Yes, it is good compared to an integrated graphics card. But it is not good to play high-end games well like Crysis, only older games like CS:S. :)
Oh, and welcome to NBR! ;) :D

If you judge a card by how well it plays Crysis then you wont be satisfied even with 8800 Ultra in SLI.

8400M is a good graphic card for games released in early 2007. Dont expect to play latest games.

It can play Call of Duty 4 at 1024 X 768 LOW to Medium Settings. Well thats it.
And you can easily max out CS:Source on it.

If you wanna play Crysis i suggest getting a desktop.

8400m GS is great for games released 2006 and below.

You will be able to run CS:S @ max gfx settings at 4x AA/2xAF

8400gs is not a performance graphics card, only good for casual gamers. it have no problem with games released before 2007, and it can play most post 2007 games smoothly provided that you have lowered the settings

I'm getting a new laptop next week with the 8400m g, I'm moving up from an ATI X1300

Looking forward to it, I don't do that much gaming on my PC but its nice to have the option there if something comes out in the future. Providing I can play games at 1024x600/1024x768 at low/mid detail levels I'll be a happy chappy.

It's better than any IGP, but just about the worst dedicated notebook card in current production.
