Is the 8400m gs really THAT bad?

Pretty much everyone I know have a good pc(nowadays anyway),and they keep saying that the 8400m gs plain sucks, and it always was even from the beginning, and I shouldn't even hope to play games on that, etc.
But I find it can play AC:2 @ 1280x720 everything at medium with not too much lag(o/ced to 600/1500[core/shaders]),and stuff like Arkham Asylum at 720p with 2x AA,almost no lag.
So is there any particular game/reason why people hate it so much?
Is it true that a core i3(clarkdale) w/only 2 gb ram is a whole lot better than my o/ced 8400m?

It's not about hatred. It's too old now. Any new low-end GPU like GT 520M and GT 620M can beat it easily.

Yes, 8400M is really weak. I think Intel HD Graphics (gen 1 i3/i5/i7 IGP) is faster than it, it's basically a desktop 8300 GS, which is really weak. My Vostro 1500 had an 8400M GS and I upgraded to 8600M GT, world of difference for gaming.

According to NotebookCheck, performances of your 8400M is under performances of Intel Integrated Graphics, even overclocked...

It's not about how weak or strong it is relative to everyone else. What matters is whether you can still have fun time playing games with it. Does it still suit your needs? Are you satisfied with it? If yes, then screw what everyone else thinks, it's about your experience with it that counts! :)

Totally agree with this. As long as it serves your purpose, it's good.

Its sucks enough for enough reasons that you pretty much shouldn't buy a computer with 8400m at any price.
