I am looking at a Sony Vaio and it is equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 540 Graphics. I was wondering if they were good enough to run RPG's like Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.
Here is a link to the laptop. VAIO EB Series PC | Sony | SonyStyle USA
Thanks for the help.![]()

The 540 doesn't exist. The card in that laptop is the 5470. It's a low-mid level card, and should be able to play most games at low-mid settings.

Dragon Age and Mass Effect aren't very intensive games graphically, so you should be able to run them on low, *maybe* medium settings with a 5470. But there are games out there that it will struggle to run even on lowest settings, so don't expect to be able to play all new games in the next couple years.

If gaming is one of your priorities, you def need to aim higher than the 5470.
These days, I recommend the 5650 as the minimum. -
same here...

My laptop has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 540v
It's a rebrand of the hd 5470 and it's not a very good videocard.
Altough it's not good for gaming, it does have some powerfull abilities for video/photo editing and high-def video playback...
The resolution of my screen is 1600x900 with very vivid colors.
Games that I can play at mid-high: half-life 2, hl episode 1-2, left for dead 1-2, metro 2033, RCT3, borderlands, etc...
Nothing to exciting (except for borderlands)

HD 540V is a rebrand of the HD4500(55nm) series not the HD5400.
Is the ATI Mobility Radeon? HD 540 Graphics any good?
