    Hi

A few days ago i ordered a toshiba p200 which
has a 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 GPU.

Until it arrives im currently using my fathers desktop
which has a 256MB ATI Radeon HD2400 pro
ive just installed KOTOR 2 the sith lords and the game
runs fine on 1024x768 with no extra detail however during
installation i received a message saying that the computer
had passed however for the best performance an
ATI Radeon 9200 or better/Nvidia Geforce4 or better is recommended.

Being a graphic card novice i would just like to know is the
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 better than a ATI Radeon 9200?

    Thankyou

Heh, heh :) ...I've been using this seriously underrated Laptop (Toshiba Satellite P200) since January 2008 & I have to say, the ATI HD2600 is really impressive

I'm currently playing the following games with no noticeable lag ( I'll soon install FRAPPS in order to get real time frame rate scores , & also include screen shots )

The Orange Box (Portal & all Half life 2 games) - 1280 X 960, all features set to maximum - Absolutely no lag or delays, source engine getting old now but still looking beautiful.

Oblivion - 1280 * 960, again all features, (shadows, blood, HDR ) No lag whatsoever, only a brief instance when running through a field of grass (again it is manageable) - can't install sky texture plug-ins as they don't appear to work properly - sky is purple

Bioshock - took me forever to get this to run in Vista - a working solution is to access game explorer, right click on the Bioshock icon & select Direct X 9 - works flawlessy, no lag (water looks so beautiful I want to tilt the screen, watch it spill out & drink it  )
Again, running in 1280*960 in DX9 mode, all effects enabled. Having played it on XP, I'm yet to see any significant differences btwn DX10 & 9 in this game

Company Of Heroes - Running this in 1280 * 960 with all settings - FMVs look awful, but game runs perfectly, again no lag

The Witcher - The only game I'm having any issues with - runs fine, but floor keeps disapeering, textures keep fading out, etc.

    F.E.A.R. - Max setting is 1020 * 800 (I think) Again , no lag, runs like a dream.

Crysis - As on my Desktop, can't really play this with settings maxed out. Runs flawlessly on medium at 1280 * 960

Really impressed by this laptop, if anything, the card is definately capable.
    All in all, very impressed

ATI 9000 (R200) series was released in 2003. The HD2000 (R600) series in 2007. The 9200 was a low end card when it was released. The game you're playing is too old to recognise newer technology.

Yes i must say the HD2600 is a real good videocard, my previous one was and x1400 and this one is way better.

Altough i'm interested to see your performance on Bioshock Demetrius, i'm running at 1024*768 with real time real time reflections off and force global lighting on and still get around 20-30 FPS, most firefights around 19-22 FPS.

    My setup is:
    - ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 256MB.
    - Core 2 Duo T8100, 2.1 GHz.
    - 3070 MB Ram.
