Maybe it is a glitch or something? I am downloading it though so I don't know. I did register for the beta a while back, but like I said no email telling me I was invited even checked the Junk folder nothing.

completed this survey awhile ago through steam. Saw this thread, and figured I'd check my library list and Dota 2 is there! Downloading the game now. Is this for real? It's weird though, I never got any email confirmation that I'm accepted in the beta.

Quick question, how good is steam's auto resume? My connection can be spotty sometimes.

**Update** oh wait, I just checked my email and found an email saying I was invited to beta, lol. Sweet!

If you disconnect you got 5 minutes to reconnect otherwise you get put into low priority match making which is the same as leaving a game.

Having never played the Original DOTA, and got into MOBA games through LoL, I have found that there is still a learning curve, but no where near as bad as people made it out to me to be. I can see it being a Learning Cliff if you are new to MOBA games entirely. Played a couple of games with Dragon Knight, First game did pretty bad 1/8/7 second game went 0/10/5, third game though Finally got some kills! went 6/4/10. I can see my weak points where I need to focus like shopping, learn the champs, and just really need to learn the map/ward placement. I also need to learn auto attack animations so I can last hit better. All this will come with playing so not to worried. I may start playing like tidehunter or other strong initiators, and leave the carries for other players till I get those things I listed down.

    That' i'm aware of. :)

I was referring to when I download Dota 2 from Steam, if it's auto resume works. I ask because I tried downloading BF3 patch via Origin and it kept giving me errors and upon disconnecting, I was not able to resume from where it left of.

Anyways, I'm about 50% so far so good! Having been a longtime WC3 Dota, LoL, and HoN player, looking forward to what Dota 2 brings to the table.

I'm a bit dissapointed with the DotA2 Beta.

Going back to 2004, I've logged probably more than 1000 hours total across DotA, HoN, LoL and now the DotA2 (not that much if you break it out by year)... I've played each of the 4 a ton, and for me the best are LoL and in a long 2nd place the original DotA.

DotA2 just feels... skatey to me, and suffers from bad lighting. The character movement doesn't feel fluid at all, the animations are often too fast or too dark, or aren't paired up with good particle/sound effects so they feel off. I'm also annoyed with playing the same DotA map that I was playing in 2004, if I wanted that nostalgia I'd go back to the original DotA.

To me, LoL has a better mix of newer gameplay, more and different kinds of map buffs to prevent static lane farming, hero skills that synergize well per character and across a team, and better item builds. I'm also hooked on the Ability Power concept, which means that casters have scaling damage like carries and don't just become CC-bots in late game. Lastly, I am one of few LoL players that does regularly play Twisted Treeline and Dominion, which are the two alternate maps on the game, and which are great when you're shorter on time or are bored of the same 5v5 3-lane map type.

DotA/DotA2 has superior hero balance and nostalgia effect, I will give them this. Everything else, I just think LoL is more polished and crisp.

Not a glitch. VALVe sent another wave of dota 2 invites not too long ago. You probably got an email linked to your steam account if not, wait for it; it'll come. I also got the invite about two days ago.
