I just bought a Acer 4530 laptop that has the 9100m g gpu, The few information I can find online suggest its as fast as a dedicated 8400m g gpu. Would this make it faster then a hd3200 from ATI? Thanks for any reply's.
-
According to the spec sheet, it's a 8400M G with 128bits GDDR3 rather than 64bits DDR2 so yeah it's faster than an hd3200
-
The king is nvidia 9400
-
According to nvidia the 9400m is a discrete 9300m paired with a 9100m g to make a 9400m I'm right or I'm I misreading something?
-
based on the numbers its the 9400m as seen the the second digit, "4" but Nvidia's namaing system is a complete mess. so something like a 9200m is worse than a 9100m?
-
hd3200<9100m<9400m
-
Yeah Nvidia's naming scheme is really messed up. The first digit is supposed to be the series and the second digit is supposed to be the actual strength of the GPU in said series, but for notebooks they messed up up.
The 9200M GS is integrated and the 9300M GS is dedicated, but the 9400M GS is also integrated >.> Talk about a mind bender lol
Let's note even begin to talk about their re-branding of GPUs lol XD
Anyways...
The 9100M G should be a tad better in performance than the HD3200, although it is still behind in performance to the 9400M GS. -
So lets see if I get this right, the 9100m g is better then a hd3200, but is slower the a 9400m which is hybrid sli of a 9300m discrete plus a 9100m g, or is there a gpu that is a 9400m that is not a hybrid sli?
-
Yeah the order is
- 9400M GS
- 9100M
- HD3200
The margin isn't that huge, but it's there nonetheless.
And I believe there is confusion concerning the hybrid SLI. The 9400M GS from my understanding is an integrated chip which can conjunct in hybrid SLI with other GPUs such as the 9200M GS, the 9300M GS and in the case of the Macbook Pro, the 9600M GT. -
I doubt that the 9400 is hybrid of 9100 and 9300. The Macbook pro has the 9600GT and 9400GS in hybrid SLI, and if the 9400 is a hybrid of 9300 and 9100, that doesn't make any sense at all.
-
The 9400 is the strongest IGP in the market now followed very closely by the AMD HD3200. The 9100 is similar to the 9400 but with lower clock speeds.
-
The 9400M G is the integrated version. Before that came out, pairing a 9100M G with a 9300M GS, you would get you 9400M GS like performance. Of course the second number in the 9 series doesn't really indicate performance...
-
actually the 9200GM S is dedicated.
-
There is hybrid SLI in the MacBook Pros and the MacBook.
-
So the 9400m is the the strongest igp followed by the 9100m, the hd2300 takes third, I got it thanks, It sounds like I lucked out on this laptop!
P.S. this needs to be updated on the graphics chart it does not mention the 9100m g at all.
Is the Nvidia 9100m g the new king in intergrated graphics?
