Is the X1300 fine for me? Or go w/ X1400?

Hi all, currently, the notebook I'm looking at (satellite m100) has the option of either the X1300 or X1400, and my budget is fairly small so I would like to get the X1300 (64mb dedicated) and save some dough. Anyway, sorry for the noobish question, but graphics cards are kind of a lesser known topic for me....
Anyway, here's what I plan to do w/ mine... I would really like to be able to watch H.264 videos, and just many other formats of videos w/o it beeing choppy on ocassion, and ocassionally getting the A/V syncro off like what happens on my current card (IGP 320M). I am not much into gaming, but would maybe like to pick-up halo 2 for PC when it comes out.
Also, w/ the X1300, can it use both shared and dedicated memory? (like can it control shared memory, or would I need the notebook to have both the discrete graphics card, and an integrated one shuch as the GMA 950?)

Halo 2 for pc will be on vista only; no xp support.

And i'm not sure which is better when it comes to H.264 vid's.

Ya, I know H2 will be vista-exclusive....I definately plan on waiting for the core duo to be 64-bit (that is if they do upgrade it to 64-bit w/ morem) Or possibly for the Turion X2 (depending on batt life compared to that or morem), so in otherwords, I am definately planning on upgrading to Vista 64-bit ASAP. So compatability w/ H2 is not really a problem....unless some weird new vista spec comes up that would render my system incompatible....
But w/ either cpu, it's likely that the notebook I want will have the X1300 available, or X1400...

I would get the x1400 just for futureproofing, Though if your only keeping it until merom comes out I would buy the x1300

I'd go for the X1400 - the X1300 isn't really supposed to be a gaming card, although it is much better suited to 3D than an integrated card.

Also, 64MB of video memory is way too little these days - go for 128MB if you want to play games, especially the latest ones. It will pay off in the long run.

The X1300 and X1400 aren't that far off in terms of GPU performance. I'd say the RAM is the more important factor here.

I would vote for the x1400. if you are planning on keeping the notebook longer, it would enhance the usability a little more in terms of graphics. If you are selling the notebook to buy an X2 or such, then it might be easier to get rid of it with an x1400.

Thanks for the replies; based on what you all have said, and a recent article I read, I have decided to go w/ the X1400, or another similiar card. Does anyone know if there is a vista-compatible driver for the X1400? Thanks in advance.

Windows Vista is the newest version of windows (like 2000, XP, ect.) and is set to come out sometime after (or during) fall of this year. What Vista has to do w/ H2 is that Halo 2 for PC will run ONLY on windows Vista, not XP or any other version....or so Bungie is saying at the moment.

So I have a question, will the M100 with the Core Duo run Windows Vista? Or is Vista only going to run on 64 bit systems??? Does that make the computer "non" future proof????

Is it worth it to wait for the dual core Turion to come out...or is a well set up Core Duo going to be just as "future proof" as the dual core Turion chips??? Will The Dual Core Turion be able to handle all the new 64 bit software, or is it on the same playing field as the Core Duo?
