I have 2 laptops that are almost exactly the same except this.
is it worth the extra 100 dollars?

    Also, both say
    "2nd generation Intel Core i5-2450M Processor( 2.50GHz 1333MHz 3MB)"

but one also says "turbo boost to 3.1"

are they both turbo boosted even though it doesnt say it?

EDIT: Answer fast, the GT 555m laptop is on a 72 hour discount.

    If it's a 144 core GT555M then yes. If it's a 96 core GT555M, same as a GT540M, then I'd keep the $100.

I dont know how many cores it has, its a lenovo y570 with this 3 day discount going on.

problem is, the reviews say it is big and bulky for a 15.6" and I can get a 14" with a gt 540m for 100$ less. Does anyone own this and can tell me how bad it is and how portable?

oh, an I know I should have posted this in the notebook section but its about the graphics cards, not the actual notebooks.

They are on discount because the Y570P/Y580 and Y470P/Y480 are available or will be soon. Check the Barnes and Noble Lenovo portal if you definitely want a Lenovo. There's also http://forum.notebookreview.com/wha...-11-14-notebooks-gaming-worth-compendium.html for a breakdown of portability and preformance.

I value portability with docked power so am not the best to advise about such purchases. For instance, I wouldn't get either as consider these to be consumer grade barges with built-in redundant dGPUs. Instead I'd get a portable system (X220/X230/T420/T430, Dell E6220/E6320, HP 2560P, Toshiba R830) then attach a ~$200 GTX460-768MB eGPU via their expresscard slot. That's performance that outbenches even high-end gaming notebooks.

at this rate, no. you have the 650m out right now which is the best Optimus card at the moment so the best bang for your buck would either be to stick with the 540m (which isn't too much slower than the 555m) or look in the current generation of laptops that are popping up now.
