Hello there, first i would like to let you know that i come from Slovenia, so my english may not be perfect. Well, i am looking to buy a new laptop and i'm limited to stores in my country only. After a while of searching i found a lot of laptops with 8600gt and 3650HD and also this one(i translated the specs int english):
- Screen 17" TFT Igh Resolution 1680X1050 WSXGA+
- graphic card nVidia GeForce Go8800GTX 512MB DDR 3
- Processor Intel Core 2 Duo T5750(2.0GHz)
- Memory 2GB DDRII 667MHZ
- Hard Drive 160GB SMART SATA 5400rpm
- DVD+/-RW DL
- modem 56K V.92, internet(don't know how to translate) card 10/100/1000MB
- sound card Intel HD Audio SRS WOW surround
- Wireless LAN (WLAN) Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN/AG, 300Mbps, IEEE 802.11a/IEEE 802.11n/IEEE 802.11g/IEEE 802.11b, MIMO technology!!!
- Bluetooth
- Memory Card reader 7v1

- Warranty: 2 years (lcd 12 m., battery 6 m.)
So this all costs about 1800 dollars, the other laptops i found are all in the same price range, why is this one, even though the 8800gtx this cheap and is it a good buy?
If this is not the right place to ask this, i'm sorry, but i'm new here, so don't blame me. Thank you for your answers!
-
welcome Sebanina, i think you have some great specs there, its rare to find a laptop with such specs for the price specially in local stores, so i think this is a catch yes, and if i were you, i'd get it, definatly.
but i have a note about the specs above.. if you could get a better CPU, things would be perfect.. (T7*** or T8**) -
thats a good price for the specs, 8800gtx pretty much owns, you could use a better cpu though (t8300 or better), but not expecting to bottleneck much
-
The CPU shouldn't be much of a bottleneck at all for most games.
-
Thank you for the answers. A further question, it is better to get this one(specified in my 1st post) than one with a better CPU, but 8600GT/HD3650 ?
-
Hell NO! keep the 8800GTX! it was just a suggestion to get a newer processor, the 8800GTX doubles the performance of the below cards,
in short.. GET THAT LAPTOP -
Out of curiosity, does it have an OS? That may tack on some price.
-
If the OS is at least Vista Home Premium, then I think that price is quite reasonable (at least if you're buying it in Europe). You get a very good graphics card with the tradeoff being an old CPU and a small hard drive. -
Don't think there is an OS included and about the Hard drive, i can get a 250GB one for about 45$ more. Old CPU ? It is still decent, isn't it?
-
yes it is decent, you wont see any kind of bottleneck from it .
-
That isn't a bad price and the specs are above decent for gaming.
I've had the pleasure to drive through Slovenia and croatia on my way to Sarajevo. The roads were very fun to drive my Type II Legend until I was pulled over by the police! This time next year you may see a silver flash caused by our Twin Turbo 350Z on its way to split.
Get that laptop, its a good deal and keep the 8800GTX
Is there a catch in this?
