I honestly don't think this is illegal because it's like traveling to another country and buying good's but maybe someone else can tell me. My example being if i go to Thailand and buy a PS3 really cheap and come back to the US thats all cool.

So this is my question. Is it "allowed" to make a tunnel to buy games in another countries location? For an example steam. If i traveled to Germany i would buy all the games for the Germany price. So can i just tunnel to someone else's computer in Germany or vice-versa to buy the same game at the cheaper price? This could be done multiply ways but the easiest is by using a remote desktop.

If this is actually illegal please let me know by PM and have a mod delete this thread.

Why dont you just get a friend from Germany to gift it to you?

AFAIK there are region lock outs so if you have a multiplayer game, tunneling to Germany would increase your ping by a lot

I remember someone here bought games from India for heaps cheap but he couldnt activate it in the US.

i think it would be illegal to obtain these games from a foreign country for resell purposes, there shouldn't be a limit on whether you can purchase them for personal use in another country as such.

@flip: Th reason why i ask is because some guy's from euro wanted to get games at the US deal. I guess the USA have cheaper prices. Also they would need to activate the games while in the tunnel. I think that would work not sure. Worth a test.

    EDIT:btw awesome dog ^^

as long as it is licensed and copyrighted i don't see the reason for it to be illegal, unless you purchase unlicensed software and distribute it then that is illegal.

Just use paypal and send them money while they gift you the game, or vice versa.

Did this yesterday with someone, and it took 2 minutes.

It's probably "illegal" in the sense that that corporations with money basically make the law in the U.S., but I have no ethical qualms about doing so. If they're going to leverage the global economy to save every penny they can, there's nothing except politics and financial influence preventing you from doing the same.

The media industry would love to call this illegal. Buy a game or DVD in USA with your money, and you cannot watch it when you go to another country. But legally speaking, its your right.
As for region based lockouts, this is how you used to work with DVD players in the past.
Your DVD player could initially play any region. After playing first 5 DVDs it would lock to a specific region.
Not sure how this works with PS3 and the games. Are there any region encoded games which will work on PS3s only from a certain region.
    If not, you are okay.

If it wasn't legal, Valve wouldn't even be allowed to permit gifting between regions.
