I'm afraid that if I get vista it will be loaded with compatability issues with my non-vista dx10. I haven't really heard anything too kind about vista from the gaming community.

See the review @ tom's hardware website for vista vs XP performance.
-
I haven't heard of any major compatibility problems with games. But DX9 performance seems to be down ~20% in most games.
Of course, in the coming weeks we might see more polished drivers and the situation *might* change. But I'll expect DX9 performance in Vista to stay below that of XP, even if they manage to narrow the gap. That's just my guess though. -
Agreed. Getting lower FPS in CSS with Vista on my Dell desktop.
-
well the problem will be that MS decided to F-over opengl users in Vista. that is something that will definitely hurt gaming IMHO
-
I'm actually very sick of all the hype and BS about Windows vista. It should have been perfected a little bit more than what was released. Right now = ****
-
I've gone to being a perma linux user now because of this whole Vista crap.
-
sigh I have tried many build of Linux over the years, i end up going back to windows mostly because of gaming i guess.
-
And not just gaming... OpenGL is the API of choice for real 3D work. I see a strong market for linux based 3D workstations coming up. Never could understand people doing heavy CAD or 3D modelling work under windows anyway.
-
Very much agreed. It was total hell getting most of my 3D Modeling apps to work in vista. Some of the major ones would work with some tweaking, but others refused to work.
Is vista good for gamers, or is it riddled with compatability problems?
