    Hi,
I have ordered XPS 1530 with NVIDIA 8400M GS and Intel core2 duo T8300 and i found that these were shown incompatible on Dell's US site but in dell's india site it didnt show me any error.

Are there any compatibility issues with these two.
Please let me know if anyone is facing any problems so that i can upgrade it.

No there should not be any incompatibility issues between a GPU and CPU.
Maybe something is wrong with the site. Any GPU should be compatible with any CPU.

You are probably right but considering how low dell sells there laptops, Ithink it is justifiable that what they are doing is just right.

No, there shouldn't be any compatibility issues, it's some selling point so they can make more dough.

I have that combo in my HP.

No problem with it but I dont know about Dell since Dell does not sell anything legitimate here.

    What?
To the OP: A graphic card will never be incompatible with a said processor, as long as it works on a said motherboard that support said cpu.

HAting on dell eh? Hows this, lets see you throw your laptop off a building and get it replaced for free. Dell's give the preformance and beyond companies of hp and back it with a better warranty so don't hate. dell ftw

Dell is easily the cheapest way to get a medium-end gaming notebook, but they're shady about it. For example, you have to dig around to find the Inspiron and Vostro lines get the DDR2 8600M and not the DDR3.

Last time I configured a Dell laptop, there was an incompatibility between the 8400GS and the 4 cell battery. Sometimes, for some reason, dell defaults some of their laptops with the 4 cell.

    Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products.

I took a look at our website and sure enough I got the same compatibility error you did. I’ll look into this and see if I can find the reason for the compatibility message. I’ll post back here as soon as I get something.

I love Dell , you misunderstood me , what I wanted say was Dell took off from Thailand in 06, and now, only Grey market models are available here(without proper warranty) and I am missing Dell because I like the company better than others and I want to customize my laptop again.

So next time , I go to San Diego , I will buy something from them.

I know that, I was a Dell user for more than 10 years(when I was still in So-Cal area). But in Thailand ,there are no dell legitimate models that come with real local warranty since Dell took off consumer model market in Thailand 2 years a go.

And I can't buy a laptop without any proper warranty so I bought a HP, but I like Dell Vostro and Lenovo Thinkpad better because I can customize more details.

Thats the problem I had when I bought mine so I bought the 9 cell battery instead of the 6 or 4 cell and I think maybe that's why I've read people having problems with the 8400M GS GeForce that other people are having like seeing the lines and all that lovely stuff we've heard about or atleast I've heard anyways! I have not had those problems or anything like that with my m1330 or any of those games they'v had the problem with either! Interesting thats for sure!

    Hey guys!

It's taking a little longer than I expected to get a reasoning behind this, but I did want to drop a line and let you know that I am still looking into it and I haven't forgotten about you. I'll be back as soon as I get an answer for this.

Contrary to the mob reaction on this thread, it turns out the T8300 does have problems with the NVidia GeForce 8400M GS. I recently replaced a T7250 in my M1330 with a T8300 and my 3D framerates have DROPPED significantly. It may be a power issue, but that doesn't make sense because the T8300 should be more power-efficient. I even switched to a 90W adapter to make sure -- framerate still sucks. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.
