    I had this problem when I had win7 now that I have win8 the issue persist. During game play the gfwl splash will not come up and certain games without it will not work.
    I had a simple fix for this problem but I forgot how.

    obviously tried when he reinstalled the operating system.

    similar issue here, OP. the only GFWL title i have is arkham city and the login would fail to splash. i downloaded a patch that fixed it. try this fix (the description is more helpful than the video itself).

    separate but related--metro/modern game apps refuse to sync with/login to my xbox account. not sure if this was triggered by said patch because i hadn't tried to play any game apps prior. been poking around for a fix for that for a few weeks now.

    Oh well. I just know GFWL wouldn't work right until I manually installed the latest version again.

    No errors appear on the screen. However when I log in the market place all it shows is a link to the web site.
