Hello, I have some problems when I'm playing Battlefield 2142.

1.) It sometimes freezes when it's almost done loading the map, and I always have to press ctrl + shift+ escape to kill its process, and I'm sick and tired of doing it, and what should I do?

2.) When I get in the game, after like 3 minutes, it freezes, and the only thing I could do is press ctrl + shift+ escape, to kill it, but that does not always work, and instead, I have to turn off my computer.

3.) I have ping rates of only 30-50, and it still lags, and I'm using Comcast Digital Cable..Is it just me? Or is it because of other players? Cause there's like 5 people who have like 110-130 ping rates.

    1. What are your system specs?

    2. Have you patched the game with the latest patch?

    3. Have you updated punk buster?

    4. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and re-patching everything?

    what spec is your computer?

    operating system? (vista?..)

    latest patch?

what speed is ur internet connection?

    ----

my main guess is the lack of system memmory.
the least u can use is 1GB and try to close as many background task as u possibly could, most of the time i find the 1GB is not enough, i always close everything except my zonealarm security suite which i usually have my "game mode" enabled.

my second guess is perhaps ur security software?

    and as a side note:

110-130 ping is very OK, they should cause problem.

lately the BF2 stats server went cookooo (stats not updating) its being going on for more than 2-3 weeks and they haven't repair it yet.

Try turning off hardware sound if you have it enabled (leave EAX on though), this is usually a better choice for notebooks since it's using software emulated audio for the onboard chip, but using EAX it's actually running in hardware mode.

*shrugs* they wrote the game really strange, but whatever. Also set the audio to Medium or High, they sound the same, but you won't get as many sounds at once with the lower.

The last bit, make sure you are @ 60-75hz refresh, the game is really picky. Make sure you aren't overclocking your video (atleast long enough to see if that is a problem).

The 3 minute thing makes me think you need to update punkbuster though. (manually)

I solved it. I completely removed it, and updated everything. Even PB manually.

Yeah its called boot into windows xp ^^ I also get about 2-10fps better it seems like in most games in xp vs vista.

Not sure why my vista install is rather fresh with the best drivers and my xp is not so fresh its like over a year old (even tho I do keep my installs clean) but xp runs slower than vista you can feel it when it comes to launching apps or doing things. I belive load times are way down on vista too.

Man, I'm beta-testing the new Highway Tampa map with the weapon modifications, and my computer is freezing after like 3 minutes of getting into the game. -_-
