EDIT:
TeamSpeak Server is NOW OPEN without need to request a key. Currently it has support for 10 simultaneous users. If it gets abused then I will password protect it and require a PM to request the password, and if that gets abused then back to using keys and nobody gets in without a key. Thank you.
IP Address: 8.6.76.232 Port 9114
I had this information previously posted in another thread "Bad Company 2 Friends" but since it was kinda getting lost in the mix, I figured I'd start a new thread dedicated to it. Thanks to usapatriot for starting the idea.
We have started a "Battlefield Bad Company 2 NBR Gaming Community". It is slowly growing but so far we are getting some involved NBR members. First and foremost let me say that there is ZERO commitment required. We just want a place for members of the NBR and BF:BC2 community to get together and have fun. It's more geared towards the North American community, but members from anywhere are free to join.
If you would like to engage other members online in BF:BC2 having fun, then feel free to join in. Below is what you will need to get started. It's all pretty straightforward.
(1) Join ViciousXUSMC's Bad Company 2 NBR Friends list:
Join Here - View Current Members
(2) Join the NBR BC2 TeamSpeak 3 server (see instructions in post below this one).
(3) Join the gametracker "clan" page for "NBR Gamers": http://www.gametracker.com/clan/nbrgamers/
- go under "clan members" section and click "apply"
That's it! Hope to see you online.
Right now there are no set dates to play. We hope there will be enough players that you can meet up in TeamSpeak periodically to join in a game together. Have fun!

Procedure to Join NBR TeamSpeak 3 Server
EDIT: SEE POST ABOVE FIRST FOR IP INFO.
I chose server location of St. Louis, MO since it's somewhat central to the USA. Voice comms aren't super critical for ping, but it would be nice if we don't have super lag.
TeamSpeak 3 uses one-time tokens to establish permissions and allow connections. Keep in mind that these are "ONE TIME USE" tokens. Once you connect with it, it can't be used again, but it will basically key in your PC (or instance of TS3) to your user permissions every time you start TS3 from there on out. You can export your Identity by going to "settings" then "export" if you want it on multiple machines, but I haven't tested it so not sure how well it works yet. If you want multiple keys let me know, I have no issue. All users will have Server Group Normal status which should give you sufficient privileges.
This is a work in progress so bear with me!
*** Please read everything below CAREFULLY! ***
Joining NBR Teamspeak 3 Server:
If you want to join the NBR TeamSpeak 3 Server you will have to meet three simple criteria in order for me to create a key for you:
(1) PM me here @ NBR (HTWingNut) with subject something related to Bad Company 2 or Starcraft 2 and Teamspeak 3 (or BC2 TS3 @ NBR, whatever - just no "hey you" subjects so I know what it is!). If you will be playing on more than one PC, then let me know how many, so I can issue you unique keys for each PC, or you can try to export one and transfer it to another PC.
(2) For Bad Company 2 join ViciousXUSMC's NBR Friend's List:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/a/vi...en&formkey=dDhNRFp5OElobEdEX2pWVE9tcmZCR3c6MA
For Starcraft 2 join KFactor's Friends's List:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/view...Y0Mi1iYWFmLTQxMWMtYjM0NC04NmZmYTIwZDRkMGQ&ifq
(3) You must be an active NBR member, and have at least contributed positively in some fashion.
Downloading, Installing, and Connecting to Teamspeak 3 NBR:
You can get TeamSpeak 3 for free at http://www.teamspeak.com. Please click on the "Downloads" link at the top of their page (upper right). Download the proper 32 or 64-bit client depending on your OS.
When I return your PM, I will include the TS3 server address along with your "one-time token". You will use this token which will establish your permissions.
Once you start TS3, click "connect", you will type in
- the server address: 8.6.76.232
- port number: 9114
- your chosen user name (please use either NBR or BC2 or SC2 username just to help us out thanks.)
- no server password required
- click the "more" button
- in the "one-time token" field copy and paste the token I PM to you in that field.
- click "connect"
The way I see this working is anyone can text or voice chat in the "Bad Company 2" channel. But once you establish who is playing where, join the appropriate "Game 1", "Game 2" , etc channel. I just don't want players playing different maps and getting confused with the cross chatter.
I'm sure there will be better ways, and enabling permissions for everyone to create their own channel, etc. But I will work that out over time. -
This post will be for updates. Please bear with us as we work out the kinks. We're all doing this for free, and actually spending a little money out of our own pockets, so be patient. We want this to work!
10/18/10 - Removed need for key to use TeamSpeak 3 server.
4/27/10 - Added support for Starcraft 2
4/14/10 - If anyone wants to create an image for our "clan" please PM me. I'll work on something, but I am not real good with that kind of thing. -
One more reserved post "just in case"
-
cool thanx again, im all set up for ts3 and on the friends list..see you all on the BF
-

You guys ready for some late night gaming? I have kid duty in the day but I plan to stay up late tonight (Friday) to get some good games in.
I fixed my no disk error I think so its time to burrow down and get some game hours in.
I lost Saturday night this weekend I will be doing volunteer security overnight for a high school because they are hosting an event the next day so they need somebody to watch over the booths and grounds overnight.
So due to that going to try and make Friday count if i can stay awake.
Oh btw I also found a fix to the CTD problem some of you may be having. If your getting random CTD its possibly due to a bug/problem with the game dealing with multi core cpu's.
If you alt/tab out of the game and go into your task manager and manually set the games affinity to only use 1 cpu core your CTD will be gone.
However to do this you need a really good cpu otherwise a single core will not be enough to run the game without slowdown or lower settings.
But just wanted to throw it out there because some people would rather play with lower settings than risk a CTD, others like myself running 3.6ghz+ can probably get away with just 1 core. -
You've GOT to be kidding me!? Multi-core CPU issues? Let's see we've had dual core CPU's for what, at least 5 or 6 years now?
-
Nice! Thanks for setting this all up htwingnut!
Hey Sobek... I somehow lost you off my friends list when I was trimming it down from the 20 limit. Get back on there!
-
Waaaat? The recommended requirement is a quad. And this game doesn't like it?
-
LOLWUT? Really. Recommends quad but it CTD's. I get them periodically, but not real often, and have C2Q on both laptop and desktop. Maybe it's something to do with the Core i7 and how it handles dual threads per core.
-
lol osco, send me an invite s0b3k

I did!!

why cant i see my other forum posts without posting a new worthless post like this one and clicking my name

I've added support for Starcraft 2 in TeamSpeak 3 if anyone is interested.

If you are not part of an official clan...
C'mon join the TS and play. I always check TS a few times a day whether I play BC2 or not. Just fun to chat and while playing a game. -
Windows 7 has core parking where it parks CPU cores to make it more power efficient. You can disable this here:
Windows 7 & Core Parking .... a *better* way to Turn It OFF ....
Some G73jh owners claim it helps with BC2. I didn't have any problems, but give it a go.
This will prevent W7 from parking any cores and the workload will be distributed evenly among all 4 cores at all times. -
I would feel uncomfortable being in there without actually playing the game (I own it on Xbox).
I can just see myself rambling on while people are trying to use team work.
-
No worries, we ramble while playing
-
we rambled today and we wernt even in the same game lmao
-
finally got a headset... this still up/working?
-
You should use Mumble instead of Teamspeak...it requires a bit of command-line wizardry to set up a server, but it really is superior to TS and Ventrilo in pretty much every way.
-
TS3 server is still up and running though for anyone wanting to use it. Just PM me if you want details.

I still hop on the TS3 server now and then, nobody ever on when I am though.
I only get on when I play BFBC2 (and thats not often) but I should try to get on when i play SC2 I guess.
I only play custom games though
But would be fun to have some co-op with NBR guys. -
Speaking of which, is SC2 single player also co-op?
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
No but you can do vs CPU if you want it does not have to be human players.
If somebody made a custom map to mimic the campaign maps that would work. -
I dunno, TS is quick and easy to set up. Plus there's lots of options for servers. I would have hosted locally, but I don't want to consume my own bandwidth and share my IP with everyone. For $2.50/mo @ 10 consecutive users is something I can swallow on an annual basis.
I hope they do. I have two buddies of mine that neither of us are that great at multiplayer so we like to play cooperative against CPU or against one another for fun, but a co-op campaign would be great fun. -
I enjoy co-op more than player vs player for any game. This will be a great feature. I'd love to try Red Alert 3 in Co-Op campaign mode sometime.
-
If Blizzard doesn't do it, I may have to try my skills at the map/campaign editor and do it myself. Would probably be a big hit.
-
I'm still debating if sc2 will be worth buying at it's release. To me, they have imposed too many restrictions into the game in terms of bnet and lan for it to be worth the money.
-
That AND it's only the Terran campaign... -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
least it's a long campaign

So they say, guess we have to find out the hard way. -
That's not completely true. There are several missions where you will also be using Protoss units and I wouldn't be surprised if you somehow had to use Zerg units as well.
-
I just jiggity joined.
-
Yeah, I hear the Zerg campaign is going to be released sometime in 2022.

by that time cockroaches will have mutated and taken over the world, so it will be like the real thing. Maybe that is what they had planned all along. -
Long time no update. But just thought I'd let you know, no need to request a key. IP and port listed in main post.
-
Do you guys still actively play BFBC2? Just got the game...
-
Not many, no. I quit a while back. Too much cheating, too much hit detection issues. I got fed up.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Cheating in BFBC2? wow dont know if I experienced that, but I just got burned out on that game for a while.
-
Yup, last time I played there was some cheating, but it's not as bad as Call of Duty (which is PACKED with hackers).
I'd say for BC2, there's about 1 cheater per 3-4~ games (sometimes more if they run in clan cheat groups). The worst one was this guy standing on top of a building (on the desert map with the city/hills/old trains) and he 1 shotted me and my entire squad from almost across the map over and over and over. He went something like 95-1.
I read that cheaters who pay for premium, updated Aimbots (40$/mo) are always one step ahead of PunkBuster. Losers, huh? Paying almost 500$/year to cheat in ONE game.
It's not that bad and is still playable, though. I used to just switch servers when that crap happened.
I'm a pro Medic-Heal Spec and may play with you guys sometime if the games are still running. -
Dang, I have not experienced cheaters on there, yet. I thought punkbuster did a pretty good job.
I'm not burnt out yet, as I just got the game, and have to get these damn unlocks, but I can see how it would be boring after a while
Any specific servers you guys play on? -
I haven't been on in a long time either. Pretty much every other game at least there were cheaters being kicked left and right. I know as a fact even level 40+ players had cheats, obviously oblivious to Punkbuster. One shot kills with every spawn from across the map. Matrix-like warping from spot to spot so near impossible to hit or kill. All sorts of crap.
I did enjoy the game for what it was, and the hit detection was annoying but I just lived with it. Then the cheating seemed to be getting worse and hit detection even worse, so I just quit playing. Wasn't worth stressing over. -
My favourite combo used to be Recon-Shotgun, but the hit detection drove me to the Medic. Healing and rezing is much less frustrating than emptying 8 shotgun rounds into someone at point blank range and the enemy turning around and killing you lol

To use TeamSpeak in a game, you have to run a client separate from the game, correct?
Regarding Starcraft, I notice some people don't like using the built in voice chat. Is there anything wrong with it?
-
Yeah, I dind't play recon for the longest time. Then I was able to score well with the Saiga with slugs, and motion detectors were worth their weight in gold. Then I think one patch broke it all. I could empty a clip into someone with their back to me from 10 feet away, and they'd turn around and pop me with their pistol, one shot one kill. FRUSTRATING!
Yes, separate client. TeamSpeak - Welcome to TeamSpeak. Download teamspeak 3 client for 32-bit or 64-bit OS depending on what you're doing. See my sig for a TS3 server you can use. I rented it for NBR member use. Use it with Starcraft too! We should sometime, maybe coordinate our attacks better. A-Team FTW! -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
The built in chat just is not as quality, its not as configurable, and its more limited.
With the TS3 server you can easily chat when not in the same party (on NBR SC2 game nights its not uncommon for us to get 8 person games going and SC2 max party size is 6) and TS3 lets you compensate mic volume for individual users and things like that witch are invaluable if you really want to use voice as a regular part of play.
BTW I am off work tongiht, car broke down. Clutch master cylinder broke. I just got it fixed a couple of hours ago, so I have the night off.
I think I may go for a midnight bike ride but other than that, it surely means I will be online tonight. Probably some SC2 but if HTWingnut is on I kinda feel like playing some Worms too.
