I checked the game out. The demo gives 30 minutes of play time on STEAM. The graphics are GREAT! Gorgeous setting. Fun to wreck cars and motorcycles. Very open world. Love the environment. I wonder how this compares to Far Cry 2.
Feels like a GTA type game to me. Wonder how others feel?
Best Wishes,
StevenX -
great graphics , great game too... it does have that open world feel like GTA4...
-
I absolutely love this game, it gives the player so much freedom and it looks great in the process. I can max it out on my laptop and get 30 - 35 fps, sometimes more, sometimes less but always playable.
I have the Demo (with the unlimited time patch). I just pre ordered the full game on Steam (10% discount) and I hope it sells really well. It definitely has that GTA IV feel too it and is very open in what you can do.
I am so happy to support decent games like this! -
Agreed, and downloading full version now on Steam... exctied to play. Was amazed at the graphics both in visuals and performance. Plus just fun run and gun and fly and drive and crash gameplay. Definitely wanted to support the developer, and will post benchmark results for the M11x once it downloads.
EDIT: There are three seperate benchmarks, atleast in the retail... what was the one you ran called? -
I bought it a Bestbuy earlier today and yeah the game is awesome
... I hope the game sells alot as well... Convinced my friend to go out and buy it also ..
The Benchmark in the Demo is not a true indication of how taxing this game can be on your PC ... The 2 other benchmarks in the full version are MUCH harder on the system...

Everyone... What is the goal of the actual game? I didn't get it in the demo. Do you level up or get more talents or abilities or what? I found a few weapons but nothing outrageous.
Best Wishes,

just got mine at gamestop today with the preorder bonuses monster truck and the gun.
and so far im loving it!!
so much freedom and things too do and the graphics are really nice even better in the full game.
oh did you guys know that the voice of the main guy you control is al Pacino lol
im playing it on my desktop in my sig maxed 1920x1200 everything on and im pretty sure this game supports dx11??? because the graphics looks way better than when i played on my 4890.
fps i get with my desktop is 60fps sense so far the game is locked at 60 ony thing i don't like is the game goes from 60 too 30 and gets pretty laggy when it drops that low. but other than that i love it
i didint try it on my g50vt-x5 yet but will soon. -

i had microstutter but i will run in my benchmarking os later. -
Really looking forward to this one. The capital city in the first one was too bland however.
-

Again... what is the point of the game? Do you level up or buy new equipment or perks or what?
Thanks!
StevenX -
The game is about having fun, unrealistic awesome action, blowing **** up.. You dont need to have stupid perks or other worthless things. -
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
REB, not to be rude but blowing stuff up lasts about 5 minutes before most people say "bored, moving on". That is why I wanted to know what the purpose is of the game. Some games are quest driven and you get something cool at the end of the quest. Is that the way this game works? Do you trade items? Do you purchase items?
Thanks,

Thread is about Just Cause 2 right? Not the first one? I got the first one as a package deal with Batman Arkham Asylum. Oblivious a blatant attempt to get the first game out there as bait to sell the 2nd game.
Its a bit too old school for me to want to play it (the first one) and does not support surround monitors, but the 2nd one does -
It will start pre loading but you won't be able to see it do this. If you check the Just Cause 2 directory in your Steam folder, you will notice that the files are actually growing in size.
Apparently Just Cause 2 is 400 square miles Vs GTA4 6 square miles. -
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
I read on IGN that it was 400 miles. I may go ahead and grab it. Still wish I knew what the objective was...
Thanks,
StevenX -
Hated the 1st on ps2 , the 2nd i have to say is way better. Enjoyed the demo but will hang around before making it a first day purchase.

I have two words why you should buy this game.
Party.
Blimp. -

25.89 fps in Desert Sunrise benchmarks with everything maxed out but SSAO turned off. Normal clocks
Underclocked, I get 25 fps in the same benchmark with the game textures, shadows, water and object quality at max settings but everything else off. The difference in performance is huge.
EDIT: Ok. I'm doing something wrong. Even if I take everything at lowest possible settings I still get no more than 30 fps when standing. I got 28 fps in the benchmark with the same res at max settings with SSAO turned off. -

My Just Cause 2 Steam copy has finally unlocked (later than the US for the UK), and I have to say, it is even more impressive than the Demo. I am getting much better frame rates (77 fps Avg) although I don't know if that has something to do with different settings or the level. The graphics are amasing and the first level is full of eye candy and atmosphere. Of course I don't want to say much because I want to avoid spoilers but I recommend this game to everyone.

^ its the other way around for me. My fps get butchered in the full game. I can play the demo with res 1600x900, and most settings on high with no need to oc. In the full game i cant get more than 30 fps with everything low or turned off and res 1280x720.

Screenshots are amazing. But the pictures of Eyefinity make me retch. How do you stand looking at the bezel separating the view into 3 sections like that?
Also your desktop HD5870 is amazing! -
Yeah what is the purpose of this game?
Why does the avatar run around blowing up stuff and hijacking helicopters etc. What is the reasoning? -
I just downloaded it last night. Hopefully tonight after work I will see what my M15x can do. I"m guessing I should hit around 30 FPS with High settings.. No AA.

i will get this aqnd test it on my new system, but have to wait i think i will wait until it drops down in price a bit - got limited funds and need a new Soundcard and Speaker set for my desktop first
-
BLAH Every time I blow something up, up close the game just freezes. It's rather annoying its happen twice so far. I'm going to try it again for a 3rd time on all low settings and see if it makes a difference.

Nah it happens in the Demo. Graphics still look great even on all low settings. One of the settings seems to be causing this. I'm not too sure which one. It happened again when I was on the roof and some enemy appeared out of no where. I'm not dealing with this crap... Back to spore.. blahhh

I was reading through some user review of this game and came across the following comment from an IGN user review:

This game is amazing, beat all the agency (plot) missions and have begun my sand box mode, and I'm only 29% done the game haha, and I am NO where near getting bored with this game -
I'm still messing with my settings and the benchmark
for some reason the optimal settings that it chose for me net me an average of around 10 fps >_< -
On that note, does anybody know what the specific graphics settings mean? There are some things like SSOH or something like that and Bekhoh filter, and I'm not sure how those change the graphics. -
SSAO is Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, usually it is just referred to in graphic settings as AO or by its full name, for example in Batman Arkham Asylum. This setting alone has the potential to reduce frames by a huge amount in some titles. From what I remember AO is how light interacts with the game world in a dynamic form in a way that is similar to how light looks in real life environments. -
I'm getting 30 FPS @ 1080p with texture details high, and everything on.
It feels really sluggish though, the mouse movement that is. It almost feels like there is mouse smoothing+auto aim+get a console instead mofo mechanism all at the same time. -

I am getting 42.15 fps average 1920x1200 all options High on the desert sunrise benchmark with the following options below:
Decals On
Soft Particles On
High-Res Shadows On
SSAO Off
Poing Light Specular On
GPU Water Simulation Off.
This on my XPS M1730 in signature. -
I definitely feeling the same. Im getting average of 30FPS, but the mouse movement seems too sluggish for me to play decent and even aim accurately.
Graphics are superb, quality is amazing, no slow down, artifacting or anything, just mouse movement is hella sluggish. -
And some people still think Meant To Be Played Program doesn't affect game development... -
Yeah I think it has mostly to do with my 2.4 Core2Duo limiting my framerate. I will get an X9000 soon and run the benchmark again at 3.4 Ghz.

I gave the benchmark one more run now with everything turned on including GPU water simulation and at 1920x1080.
Average framerate 27.16 according to the benchmark.
Well my CPU bottlenecks my 8800m GTX SLI, so it would be interesting to see where the FPS would land with the X9000. Also of course the 512MB Vram limits the GPU´s at high resolutions for sure. -
This is what i get with the demo benchmark.
