I recently purchased minecraft. As many people know, that game's graphics is not on par with other modern games. As such, my gpu, 5870M, does not automatically set its clock back to full, normal, which is I think 700/1000 or something like that for the card. According to MSI Afterburner, when I am playing the game, the clocks are 500/1000 instead. Is there a way to specifically tell my computer to fully use the gpu when minecraft is running? All my other games are fine as they are graphically demanding and my computer fully uses the gpu power, but it doesn't for minecraft. Thanks!

MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
why do you need a beast like 5870M running at full speed for minecraft ??

It's running at lower clocks to save energy and produce less heat; it doesn't think it needs to go higher to run that game. If performance is acceptable, then I'd say the card is doing what it's supposed to do.

It's running at "lower" clocks because it's not a graphically demanding game ..

Question for the OP; Are you trying to turn your GPU clocks up to make the game look better or perform better... Because you can't make a older game nessisarly '' look better '' just because you have new equipment... it does not work that way.

For some reason, minecraft is lagging. I am not sure if this is due to the coding of the game or my gpu. I guess it's normal that my gpu isn't working full for this game.

Just a quick question about ATI catalyst and settings
