Im sorry if i created a thread like this before im really having memory issues these daysAnyways around 85degrees celcius is the temp that i get with my overclocked hd 3450 in sig like 5min after playing some HL2 mods. Is this dangerous or anything? It doesn't feel that hot to me, just warm
But i don't want to toast my laptop or anything.

Temps are ok for an oc'd gpu. GPUs can go higher.
-
I wouldn't hesitate to try o/c higher with your laptop if only because I've learned to tolerate higher temps myself. -

Probably has a better chance of outliving my Quadro FX 570M, stupid thing with it's deffect, i'd love to game on this computer comfortably, except it's never comfortably it's always a blunt pain because you know you're full on gaming on a card that's as fragile as a vase when it comes to stupid heat.

I run with 80-85 on my GPU with stock clocks .... I know it is pretty extreme but a lot of people told me it is not unusual ..... as an advice to you it is something I do and I think it is useful, when you are gaming for long hours and the GPU is heating like that, don't shutdown the laptop immediately after you are done just leave it for a couple of minutes to cool down

this might help

Another reason not to OC: I used to own a 1535 that had the copper mod (this reduced temps by 10C). The GPU still failed when I was playing Company of Heroes one day. -
You could undervolt the GPU by doing a VGA BIOS Mod.
-
85 C ain't that bad for a laptop GPU, especially for an OC-ed GPU. Constantly hitting in the 90 C+ zone however, will get you in trouble.
-
good to know, mine reaches at max 85 but usually stays lower.
either stock or oc'd. i've upped the fan speeds a lot when oc'd tho and it now stays cooler than at stock speeds with stock fan settings.
so i could recommend upping ur fan speeds. normally 100% fan is applied at over 90 C which is quite stupid imo.
i've set 100% fan at around 80+ degrees and it affects all lower temps too as i use the transfer func. in gputool. u can also do it via bios mod but i haven't bothered as i apply the oc when on AC. -
I followed this thread and replaced the crapo thermal pads in the M1330 with copper shims and thermal compound I bought on ebay. The temps went down at least 6-8 deg C with the new thermal paste and copper shims. You should be able to do something similar.

My OC'ed 9650m GT runs at 76 Celsius in stress, seeing that people play on GPU's that reach 85-90 Celsius and have no problems makes me calmer about my 9650m GT.
-
My M4870s will hit 85 core in games. Pretty sure they'd fry themselves under a long furmark run. I'd love to overclock them but it just doesn't leave enough headroom for me to feel comfy doing do.

My 9600M GT used to hit about 85C in gaming...did a little tweak and now temps usually 75-80C at most...
for those interested , link below... this also reduced idle temps... especially useful with NVDIA cards on Windows 7 having powermizer issues....

I don't know why mentioning a GPU setup prompts others to share their own irrelevant GPU setups, but the main point is that OCing a weak GPU is not worth the benefits, especially when we're talking about a limited cooling system. You can OC by flashing the VBIOS and installing copper shims as well as other measures, but ultimately this is a waste of time and effort.
Just below 90 degrees (87 degrees celcius or so) while gaming dell studio 1535
