Hi all, I just bought a laptop with the go 7950 gtx for gaming. Was wondering what windows app would be better between vista 32 or xp media. The computer comes with vista 32. Thanks in advance.

    Ps. The computer is a dell m1710 t7200 2.0 ghz core 2 duo 4mg of L2 cache, with 2 gigs of 667 ram and a 160 5400 hd, dvd-rw ,go 7950 gtx.

Ouch. You just got ripped off by Dell, the XPS 1710 is the most expensive 7950GTX laptop out there but I'm sure you did yourhomework ;)

As for Vista vs. XP - It's preference it doesn't really matter which one you use if you have a single video card - although I'd recommend XP

No real point in using vista unless you like it since the gpu you have is not DX10 compatible wich was the main reason I went to vista.

I do at this point prefer vista to xp after using it for awhile, but I would never have a vista only install because I have the urge to play old games and stuff now and then and some of the older stuff is not compatible with vista (well atleast not vista x64, I never use x86 wich has less compatability issues)

LoL ouch is right. Unfortunatly i only have credid with dell and I was able to get a refurbished alot cheaper then full price with a 3 year in home warranty. So its not quite as bad as it looks. Thanks for your response. Oh and by the way is it difficult to change from vista to xp. I have an old xp pro disk i can use if need be.

    i've heard vista sucks..
the main reason i want it is for directx 10 in the future but your card wont even support that so i'd say you might want to go back to xp

its a nice comp though so it should be able to run vista fine

Our desktop has vista and I kinda like some of the features. However the desktop has a direct x 10 card - 8600 gts 256.I wont be playing games any older than world of warcraft so conpatability issues should be minimal. Thanks for your response.

installing xp shouldnt be hard at all

easiest way would be to reformat and then do a clean install
have you used the xp disk more than once? cause i don't know how the serial number would work if you already use it on another computer
