I just bought a laptop for gaming and was wondering if this a good enough setup to play the next generation games, such as f.e.a.r and oblivion etc.

Would it be a good idea to go for the XPS m170 and pay the extra $600 for the NVidia 7800? Or should the 6800 suite me for a while (as in a few years)

Its a dell inspiron 9300 btw

    Pentium M 770 (2.13GHz/533MHz FSB)
17 inch True Life Wide Screen UXGA
    2GB, DDR2, 533MHz 2 Dimm
    256MB NVIDIA 6800
    100GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive

Well again, the M170 is only worth it if you get the graphivs card. What is wrong with your 9300 now? Right now, you have a good gaming laptop and you wouldnt need to upgrade.

Uh... isn't the 6800 the 2nd best graphics card out for ntoebooks right now? (or just for Dell?) Anyway from my understanding with the XPS you get better support (personally I wouldn't care), better case, better airflow, chipset, ect... So unless your really hardcore (like: 50 FPS on high settings?... THAT'S BULL****- just an example, not realistic), or $600 is easily affordable to you then I think you'll good with the 9300 for a few years.

My setup came out to $3100, but I had the 35% coupon so it was 2000 but his prolly went over $3200 easily.
