I thought I should share this with you guys as you could really appreciate it.

Someone asked me about a laptop upgrade from his old gaming laptop Dell E1705 Intel t7200 and nvidia 7900gs and going from this to a i7-2760qm with xfire AMD6990m and if he would notice a big difference.

My first remark was DUH yes of course, so his next question was then by how much.

I ended up getting details from notebookcheck gpu + cpu comparison.
His Intel t7200 vs i7-2760qm, the 2760qm is equivalent of nearly 3.5 Intel
    t7200's. 3dmark06 cpu (1760 vs 6042)
The NV7900gs vs dual AMD6990m there is nearly 10x times the 7900gs if not more.
The combination of the cpu and the gpu would end up being closer to 20x times his laptop performance jump.

After mentioning this finally a light went on and he remarked "so this would be like winning the lottery and same time being a male nerd taking a bottle of viagra and then being locked in a female prison for a week" .

I think he finally got the idea. Man I have heard some weird stuff but this is just too hilarious. Hope you enjoyed this.

You can't really go by benchmark scores and say something is X times as good because the 3dmark06 score was X times higher.

Well what do you mean by as good?

    Faster in literal max performance?

    Faster in day-to-day usage?

Or does as good mean enjoyment factor? Because, maybe his enjoyment factor will be twenty times higher. Maybe it will be 40x.

Point is, there is no point. Like OP said, it's just for LoLs. :D

What an upgrade! But, surprisingly, I may have you beat... I finally convinced my friend out of some desktop computer I built for him back in 1999/2000/or so, just this year. (So we both have friends who are insane)

I think I increased his "enjoyment factor" by a couple too ;)

I think he was referring to the stupid comment his friend made, more or less.

    The difference is HUGE

Forget 3dmark06 because that's so old...plus it *might be CPu limited with Xfire 6990's.

A more modern bench would be 3dmark Vantage. A 2760 plus xfire 6990's will score 30K+. His old system will get 2K if he's lucky
