Hey everybody, I just recently purchased a HP Pavilion DV6500t.
    The specs are:

Operating System - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium

    Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7300
    (2.00 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)

    Display - 15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)

    Memory - 2GB DDR2 (2 Dimm)

Graphics Card - 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

Personalization - HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Microphone

    Networking - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)

    Hard Drive - 160GB 5400RPM

Primary CD/DVD Drive - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support

Primary Battery - High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

I was just wondering if I should get a good BT mouse or a regular usb one. Also wondering if games like Battlefield 2 will run good on this as well as new games coming up like Crysis.

go with a wired mouse when gaming. I just always like the feeling that my connection is going to stay with me while i am killing computerized sprites XD

I personally use the Logitech G5 mouse.

i would say that ur new notebook is good enough to play BF2. but i have heard of problems with the mobile 8 series and some DX9 games. the only way to find out is to install the game and try and play it. and as far as the mouse thing goes i would recommend the Logitech G7 for Revolution. both of the Revolutions (the notebook and desktop version) have gotten very good reviews. i have yet to use a blue tooth mouse and am not sure about the performance.

The wired G5 is better since it's USB powered and you won't have to worry about losing the connection as with Bluetooth. The G7 I've read about though is stated to be one of the best gaming mice available. It can be had for about $50, I think. You will be able to play Crysis but at medium settings.

Oh ok thanks guys. I'll check those out. I know I got Bluetooth on my laptop so maybe I can find a good one that charges while I play that would be nice. I heard Logitech makes a good one for 50 bucks. I got Bluetooth on it why not use it.

The G5 is a really good mouse. It's like the G7 only it's not got wireless (which is better because you don't have to press the reset button millions of times before it actually works!).

    It's reduced from £70 to £30 on amazon.co.uk

Should play BF2 but maybe want to consider a bit more RAM if you've got Vista and your going to be doing a lot of serious gaming.

The 2500 review that went up today had good results with BF2 and the 8400, and the 2500 has less dedicated memory than yours, so I think you should be pleased with the performance.

I usually don't buy products online. This mouse situation is going to be hard because I spent the money to get Bluetooth and it should work fine just will need a extra par of AA's. Question what uses more power from battery Bluetooth or USB.

geforce 8 series doesn't have any problems with dx9 at all, i assure you.

vista, however, does have some problems. with some minor work you will get battlefield 2 to run, but its not technically supported.

you will have a better experience with gaming, at least, in xp at the moment.

blue tooth mice aren't acceptable for gaming. not even close. if you want a wireless mouse the logitech g7 is the only one acceptable for gaming (actually the revolution mice might also work) - but those are not using bluetooth, some other 2.4ghz wireless standard. you will certainly be able to at least run crysis. no one can say for sure what settings you will have to use. probably low to medium? and that doesn't mean that it wont look good.

Yeah true oh well I will just use Bluetooth for something else. I think the Crysis specs are these:

    Min:
    CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8GHz
    Graphics: NVIDIA 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
    RAM: 768MB/1GB
    HDD: 6GB
    Internet: 256k+
    Optical Drive: DVD
    Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

    Rec:
    CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
    Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
    RAM: 1.5GB
    HDD: 6GB
    Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
    Optical Drive: DVD
    Software: DX10 with Windows Vista

Yeah it should run at medium for sure.

Sorry to bump but yeah the G7 mouse does seem to be the best. I think CircuitCity has it for 80 bucks. Kinda a lot since mine doesn't have the G5. I'll see if I can find it cheaper anywhere else.
