Just me or is it BF2's problem?

Is it just me or is BF2 really annoying/hard to play? It's so hard to shoot someone. Whenever I try to snipe someone, it feels like my mouse is twitching right when I shoot. But my mouse is perfectly still. Also, even though my crosshair is on the enemy, I still don't hit them. I've sniped like a dozen people, and non were killing shots. I don't believe that all of them had enough HP to survive one sniper kill. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you need to lead when you shoot like in Halo? Also, even though I'm not lagging (my ping is 5 on the server), it feels like I'm lagging somewhat when I shoot. It's also really hard to kill someone with other guns too. I can shoot someone like 50 times and they won't die, but when I get shot I die in like 3 shots.

And is it just me or do maps just seem to be empty all the time? I was just playing on a 40 player server (dragon valley I think) and I barely saw anyone. People seem to spam radio messages all the time and just run around randomly with little teamwork. I know it sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm just wondering if anyone else's BF2 experience is like this.

Does anyone else have these problems too or is it just me?

Could it be that some settings aren't set correctly?

I know what you mean...I bought BF2 via Steam and tried to play...meatshots from no more than 20 yards away failed to hit, and don't get me started on sniping. Of course, I can spawn in my team's base and get one-shotted before I walk two feet. >_<

This is gonna take some getting used to, I can tell.

every shot in bf2 follows a trajectory so you have to lead and compensate for bullet drop. once you get this down sniping will be fun and rewarding.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrKcFnO2fyk this guy has some good tips on sniping.

Oh yeah, if you come straight from FPS like the COD series, then BF2 does seem to be very frustrating and difficult. You just need to learn to play BF2 the way it was meant to be played, rules and techniques from COD series don't really work on BF2.

Here are some tips that helped me through:

    - Update to v1.5, as it improves weapon accuracy
    - Apply server filters: don't show empty servers, same version only, etc
    - Always go prone or crouch when shooting, greatly improves accuracy
    - Use burst fire when possible (select weapon again or press 3 to select firing mode)
    - After firing sniper rifle, hold the left mouse button to see where the bullet lands
    - After firing anti-tank missile launcher, hold the left mouse button to guide the missile

For now, I suggest you play as medic first, go to a non-vehicle server, earn some points and unlock weapons by simply reviving people and handing out medic pack. Really easy to rank up.

As for sniper class, yeah, watch the BF2 Sniper School videos, they really help.

    Yeah I mainly play cs1.6 and tf2. CoD4 occasionally.
    I've updated to 1.5 already.

thanks for the tips though. I guess I just have to play it more. I haven't played bf2 in 2-3 weeks, and I've only been playing tf2 and cs during that span of time. So you do have to lead in BF2 then.
And like you said, I've only been playing medic right now lol because it's hard to get points otherwise. However, I just tried the recon class today for my first time, and I've got to say, the default recon gun is pretty good. I guess I'll have to play it more.

aim for the head or the heart. If you snipe at simply any part of the enemy, it won't work.

Yeah, BF2's shooting mechanics are a lot different from most shooters. Sometimes it seems like your hits aren't registering or that the guns aren't very accurate. The more you play the more you will get the hang of the guns in BF2. Some guns are better than others.

Overall though, for medium-long range use semi or controlled bursts of full auto and for close quarters use full auto. Take your time and aim, "snap shooting" does not work particularly well in BF2.

I hate when games play like this. It feels like theres no feedback from the weapons at all. left 4 dead 2 sort of feels the same way, like the shotgun blast sound lags a bit and the zombies fly back too late. And i find it really hard to hit moving zombies unless i lead uncomfortably far from the zombie and it might actually hit.

You gotta lead your shots in L4D, more so than other games. This is true.

I heard that too, and it's complete BS; they've been saying it since day 1 as a a rouse to cover up their glitchy netcode and hit detection. I've not been able to hit people completely stationary and have killed in one shot assaulters running full tilt perpendicular to me without any lead. The fact is not only does it excuse shoddy programming they wouldn't do anything about it if they could since it's critical to gameplay at this point. If the sniper was accurate like in most warsims it would be way too overpowered to the way BF2 classes are currently organized.

Don't try to compensate, just shoot and know that with any weapon in BF2 it's 50% luck and 50% your connection, the rest is skill.

Then again I've been exclusively AT almost since release.

there is bullet drop no doubt. so i dont see why trajectory is bs. you can see it really well with tank shells.

There is definitely some bullet drop; don't blame it all on the netcode. :p

well the server I was playing on had a ping of 5 for me.
I think it might better then for BF2 if they made it like cs or CoD4 where you shoot and hit with minor trajectory stuff.

No. CS and COD4 weapons shoot like freaking lasers with little recoil. BF2's system is much better.
