    Hi,

I just recieved my XPS M1530 and i would like to play games alittle better than how it is now, so i want to try OC it a little..

I understand that i need Rivatuner, which i already got, 3DMark06, which i already got, and the program to watch temperature which i dont know the name of..

I currently have Version 174.31 out of the box, which is the best driver that i can get and then start OCing? 174.74?

    Thank you!

174.74 is the one i use... 169.28 is also good...
there is no '' best driver'', it all depends on what you want, but for me, 174.74 has been wonderful.

And on the contrary (Which is the nature of graphic card drivers), 174.16 performed better for me, 174.74 ran hotter and had graphic tearing.

    174.74

    500/890 that's where i am at

i dont think it does any harm to your graphics card

Runs 55 degree idle, 60 degree after turned on for overnight

around 80 or so for playing games

That's normal for the DDR3 in the M1530. My DDR2 model idles at between 48 and 52 C.

So which one should i go with? 175.80? or 174.74? or 174.93?

Do the numbers necessary mean that higher the better?

I have tried tons of drivers on my M1530, but on XP. So Vista experiance might differ a bit. But I am installing Vista again today, just to do some testing (I am bored). The Fastest driver I found was the 175.70 (175.75 was slower, but I am going to try 175.80 today). I did read that someone with our laptop had great success OCing with the 175.75 tho.

I am using 174.74 right now, just because it seems to be a good all around driver. I have not tried 174.16 but I will and report back. So far what a few are saying is that the 175.80 is looking good. And according to the checkmarks @ LV2G it is WHQL. I also tested the 174.31's from Dell. They are solid drivers, but lost about 300 3dmarks.

I would suggest trying 175.80, 175.70, 174.74, 174.16. Check out what your temps are with them, and see what type of 3dmarks you are getting. BUT don't use 3dmark06 as your OC stability test. As I am able to OC to 675/900 no problem, but if I try to game with that OC I get hard reboots. So to test your OC, game, game for at least a hour. Just make sure you use Driver Sweeper. First uninstall the Nvidia Drivers using Add/Remove programs. And then boot into safemode and run Driver Cleaner.

I will do some more testing this evening with Vista and report back what I find.
