This may get bumped to the dell forum, but I figured gamers would be a little more interested. I just upgraded my 6800 ultra in my XPS to the 7800 (yes, I have connections!!). Anyway, as today was my first day with it, I figured I'd give my experience, since others may or may not want to do the same.

Changing it was pretty easy, a good portion of the computer had to be taken apart, but nothing too bad. Of course you have to flash the bios with the m170 bios on dell's site, but that takes only a few minutes at most. All in all, not really a problem for anyone that has ever taken anything apart I'd say!!

As for performance, I have only used it for a little while today. Really, I haven't seen much of an increase in most games, the F.E.A.R. demo was running a little smoother though. The best I can say, is I got a 3dmark score of 6614 when I just ran it. Honestly, I never ran it on my 6800 ultra, but I have heard usually in the 5200 range, so a bit of a jump. Worth $350?? Probably not!! But that is your choice, hope this is useful for someone ;)

Good feedback, it's nice to know what the extra juice will get you. For most people it's probably not worth it, SIMS 2 will run just fine. ;)

That's because the 6800Ultra is more than enough for almost every game out there, but the FEAR is where the new 7800 series really shine.

You know I was thinking about this the 1st time I heard the 7800go came out. I have a question, is there any way that that could be put into a 9300?
