when im not doing gpu intensive tasks (fancy way of saying while im NOT PLAYING GAMES :D :D ) i keep my card underclocked 50% of standard clocks which results in a 5-6 C decrease in temperature from idle 28-29 to about 23-24...

now i know keeping a card overclocked resulting in increased temperature shortens its life, but does keeping it underclocked increase it?? :D :D

    i kinda doubt it

    what do u guys think?

It should if it decrease the amount of heat the GPU generates but it also depends on the amount of voltage I suppose.

Btw, which video card do you have?

    HD2600 toshiba a200

well sure if the temps are lower the card should "live" longer, but i think the card was built to handle easily these temps <30C so the 5C decrease doesnt make a difference.. or does it?? :D

Increase it? No. Running at nominal temperatures will get you a lifespan, running below that will get you better power management. Although I would not be surprised if the average lifespan would increase in your case.
Just make sure you clean your laptop inside for dust and such.

Since 25C is a very low temperature. So there is practically no heat to worry in that case.
For me underclocking would results in an average 28C .For others it might be 40C.
