WASD for me. I've never used anything else, although I can see the reasoning behind using ESDF.

The bumps often put on the home keys (F & J) make it easier for me to find without having to look at the keyboard.

WASD here. I´m ambidextrous, but I always use the mouse on the lef hand. Easy to reach ctrl/shift/alt/tab with the right thumb, r/f/v with right pinky, and spacebar jumping with the hand palm.

I probably use the mouse with the left hand because of so many years of flight sims, with the joystick in my right hand, and the throtlle/mouse on the left.

It was a joke ;) . I wouldn't think of using anything other than the WASD keys.

How do you reload?! There are no other keys nearby that can easily be used for other things in the game..

usually I 'press down on the scroll wheel" (mouse button 3?)... I know it's a very very odd configuration to play with, but I seem to have it down well enough to compete well online. I find my fingers are too clumsy to use the WASD type configurations; I should just practice, but I don't take my games that seriously to want to have to practice, lol! Maybe i'll give it another whirl!

Well, as long as it works for you! But you may want to start trying out WASD.. it makes using items, reloading, leaning, etc much easier than using the arrow keys.

I personally hate the Q,E keys for Leaning. My middle finger isn't flexible enough to hit either one without my fingers shifting off A or D. I end up moving my lean keys to the mouse.

It works well for me, but using the mouse buttons is a good idea. Do you use the forward/back buttons for that? Or mouse tilt?

    Forward and Back in COD.

tilting requires either I move my finger off the left or right mouse button, which doesn't work out for me. Too many times I find myself toggling the sights while I'm leaning, so using my right mouse button finger doesn't work out. And since leaning isn't a stance toggle, I can't use my index finger to lean.

Now if leaning was a stance toggle like crouch and prone, that would work better for those who lean with the tilt wheel. But that would cut into your reflex time. If you are getting shot at while leaning, you stand a better chance of ducking back into cover by releasing the lean key versus hitting the lean key again.

Good point about using the tilt. Maybe I'll try mapping my forward/back buttons for the tilt. Using Q/E has been working fine for me, but I can see how using the mouse would be more effective - I have to take my finger off one of the movement keys regardless to lean.

I use WASD for almost every game, except for Quake Live, with which I use ESDF, to allow for binds to my favourite weapons near my movement keys.
