    Killzone 2 E3 2007 HD Footage

How did you guys like the new footage at Sony's E3 Media Event? I loved it. I really was impressed at how good the graphics are this early when the game is going to come out in 2008. The gun immediately caught my attention...it looked so detailed and the animation of the game was very very good compared to other "really good looking games".

The blood effects when shooting the enemies really caught my attention. I realize just how ugly the blood effects are in many new games. The environment really is captivating as well. There is so much chaos everywhere you look and it really gives you the feeling of "war".

Around September, I'm probably going to get a new console and I am leaning towards the PS3 now for games like Killzone 2, MGS4, RE5, and a bunch of others.

i think i officially want all the systems now. My bro and I already have a 360 (hasn't broken or anything). when I go to college I want to buy a wii around christmas time. The PS3 is much more affordable now and anyone who complains about the price is an idiot. People don't understand how much the blueray is worth and you can get it with the PS3 along with other goodies. If you check slickdeals.net you can see all that you can get from ordering the PS3 from circuitcity. It's a killer deal. The PS3 game I'm most excited for is ratchet and clank. I feel like the game doesn't get enough credit. More people need to know about how good this game is. I can see online play on this more fun and halo 3 (if they have it). If you have a ps2 but don't own ratchet and clank, start with the 1st one and work your way up to the 3rd installment. They are all great. Killzone 2, well it looks amazing but the one on the ps2 looked good too but had some flaws. I hope they get it right this time.

well, killzone was a cgi render, unfortunately (unless this was something recent i missed) - and was just made to project what they thought the game was going to be like.

i really hope its going to be that awesome, but likely it will be toned down at least one notch.

mgs4 will probably come out for the xbox almost immediately after their exclusivity deal with sony expires.

resident evil 5 will also be multiplatform as far as i know.

the xbox is cheaper but the sony is sleeker... decisions decisions...

no. i think people understand very well the value of blueray. most people are hooking up their xbox 360 / ps3 to standard definition tvs. dvd's are much more widely available than blueray / hddvd disks. you can't just get any movie on blueray. if you go to the store thinking "i want to watch a movie" - you have a huge selection. if you walk in thinking "i want to watch a blueray disk movie" then suddenly your selection drops to a fraction of what it was...

also- people understand very well the projected value of blueray. by the time those disks are immersed, and you can actually go to the store and pick the one you want... the blueray player isn't going to cost anything anymore. just like dvd's when they came out. less than $100 for the player. thats not like a 5 year projection, either. thats going to happen in months. maybe 12 months. maybe less.

so, blueray, while enticing, isn't necessarily of high "real" value. ie. the price tag is high but the benefit / cost is low, even projected out short term.

also- those ps3 packaged deals usually incorporate a game that wouldn't sell without being included in the box and accessories that are overpriced. its like the opposite of a good deal. whats the word for that? bad deal?

but im sure ratchet and clank is sweet, although i have never played it.
    -------

now wait, let me clarify that statement. the value of blueray in terms of a home theatre system right now is low, because of the limited availability of blue ray disks, high cost of blue ray players (ps3 included), and the rapidly dropping prices on blue ray hardware (players).

but- the value of using blueray for game disks in the ps3 is yet to be seen. 25 gigs on a single layer is a good thing with increasing game size. my rainbow six vegas folder is over 6 gigs, and i know that splinter cell, double agent is about 10 gigs. crysis also will be about 10 gigs.

toss in a few gigs of cut scenes and i think you have just maxed out an hd dvd.

that extra space will definitely help out in storing hd video content within games (cut scenes, for example, which are prevalent in games like metal gear solid) while also the size of games themselves are slowly going to expand (not so much due to more advanced ai or physics, but just higher quality content, like sounds and visuals)

Yeah, it is really more worth it now with all the great new exclusive titles as well as new multi platform titles coming out. The blue ray is part of the understandably high price tag.

My friend has a 360 and we play very often. My bro is going to college soon and he is a very casual gamer now and I'm going to talk him into buying the Wii, which he already has been considering. I am going to get a PS3 and I will be happy.

I was going to get a new laptop to play games in September, but then I really asked myself why I wanted it that early and why I could not wait until I need it the next summer for college. Well, I realized it was only to game and I figured out this is a much better deal. I really get more benefit out of it.

Option A: Buy a new laptop in September with 8600M GT to 8800M and be set with that for 4-5 years.

Option B: Buy a PS3 in September along with a few games and buy a laptop the next summer when I need it.

I decided to go with Option B.

There was the trailer posted from E3 today. I don't think it is a CGI render. That is what is linked above.

    1. No, that was in game footage. The trailer they released before that everyone was talking about and saying it was "fake" was indeed a cgi render. However, today at E3 they showed new footage. The gameplay is going to make or break Killzone 2 just like the first Killzone. Killzone 1 was horrible to play but looked great.

    2. MGS4 will most likely NOT end up on the 360 IF PS3 sales go up as well as MGS4. The reason Kojima even considered releasing it on 360 was because he was worried how well it would sell on the Sony console. I have a gut feeling that this holiday season, there is going to be a balanced sale of all 3 systems. They all just have so much to offer. I'm not a fanboy and I have chosen the PS3.

    3. Yes, everyone knows RE5 is multiplatform, but I will be getting it on my PS3 because I have that console.

    4. Yes, Xbox is cheaper, but by how much? Just including Blueray makes the PS3 a better deal imo at least. he Xbox 360 Premium is $400 and now the PS3 is $500 and that deal even comes with 40GB more of Hard Drive space. I think MS is going to get some serious competition from the PS3 this holiday season, but more so....next year.

oh yeah definitely wait on a laptop until you are going to college.

    ill be there this fall.

    i bought a laptop.

the two go hand in hand.

as far as releasing mgs4 for the xbox, its just a matter of how much money sony is willing to offer them to NOT put it on the xbox vs how much money they will get by putting it on the xbox. when sony's lease on gta expired back in the day, it was out on the xbox shortly afterwards. the same thing is going to happen with mgs4. i can feel it. simple port.

granted, im not xbox fan. im actually somewhat sony biassed, i bought a ps2 after both the xbox and ps2 were out for a while and i made the right decision, even with halo nonsense. im big on "nice hardware." the ps3 is sleek. it matters a lot. i might actually buy a ps3 eventually, but i would NEVER get an xbox 360. no no no.

edit: you convinced me to watch the killzone trailer. its loading....
