haha yeah me too. I, however, can guess Steam will just take the game away when they realize this. I do know Steam had a server problem after the thunderstorm.
-
A pity I already got it as a free bonus for The Armored Princess and CrossWorlds
-
i love armored princess, got it during the sale. but finding it kinda hard.
-
I found that The Legend is hard for me :s I can't really figure out how people can do the hard difficulty in like less than 50 game days ._.
Haven't played Armored Princess... Never got Crossworlds -
Well, I guess this confirms the game for many, I guess its a hidden item??
-
They fixed it. Now it says 'Purchase' instead of 'Play' in your steam game library.
-
Nah, both The Legend and AP/CW are so easy that one can play on impossible without EVER hiring a single troop and without fleeing. Finishing it is hard though because you're feeling like your brain is dying of boredom.
They did really good graphics, but the AI on impossible is worse than Heroes V on the easiest setting. -
I disagree. Played King's Bounty on impossible and didn't find it to be that much easier than Heroes V @ 200%. Try playing it without using "sacrifice", "evlin", undead army, and warrior class.
-
Never used those spells.
Getting a full undead army without recruiting anything might be tricky in Legend and AP, but not CW. Then you'd be relying on a 'lucky' random seed to get the 5th undead stack unless I don't know something or you don't mean 'full undead army'
-
Well, maybe you could enlighten me on your tactics then, how do you get through the game on impossible, let's say with a mage, regardless of the random item/units/spells effect, without running around and "stealing" stuff, no hiring new troops and not using "cheat spells" that I mentioned? Oh, and let's also add, no unit loss...ever (all victories should be flawless). ANy suggestions?
I finished the Armored Princess on impossible but there were 2 fights where I lost units (K'tahu and the final battle), plus I played warrior and a 60 lvl pet dragon was a good support. But I couldn't avoid buying units, simply because you don't always have the required ones in the enemy armies (due to the random effect).
Now, I'm going with a mage (the Legend) and find it very challenging, especially since I have no resurrection spell (already past dwarves and still no luck) and not using undead units at all... -

After reading a lot of very positive reviews, I tried armored princess but didn't like it at all.
Something about the artwork seemed kind of cartoony or pokemon-ish to me, and the combat animations were quite cheesy. I imagine I should have given it more time to grow on me and get into the story, but the tone and atmosphere really turned me off. I've enjoyed other RPGs such as morrowinds, oblivion, neverwinter nights, baldur's gate, dragon age, the witcher, etc., maybe i've grown accustomed to a darker tone in the art direction. -
Baldur's Gate and other D&D RPGs are in the "RPG" section. King's Bounty is in the same league with Heroes of Might and Magic (direct competitor
) - they are turn based strategy games, or the way some call em - "battle-chess" games. It's about playing a board game with virtually unlimited possibilities where each unit stack has its unique skills and features.
-
No unit loss ever is kind of pushing it...
If you want every victory to be flawless as a mage, use invisibility or glot's armor and bring only 1 stack. You could also use fear if your unit is higher level than every enemy unit. Or if there are no enemy shooters/casters, kite everything with dragonflies lol. Summon all kinds of stuff that'll fight instead of you. You'll need to use manaboosters instead of offensive stuff.
In the Legend if you play as a paladin, resurrect is always available for sale in the swamps. Leave 1 of each unit in castles and learn diplomacy as fast as possible and get defectors.
CW is sort of broken because once you have peasants/skeletons..., you can train them into all kinds of units and then a whole variety of units will join you with diplomacy. -
I'm not sure if I'd necessarily term KB a "competitor" to Heroes, per se, since it did give birth to the venerable series...
Playing through Legend now, and loving it. Same old shenanigans from the original King's Bounty still kinda works - pottering about on boats and running circles around monsters to get chests and flags. No weekly creature salary to worry about in Legend, either! -
ive been playing a mage at normal and i am having difficulty. dont know if my mage build is wrong but it sounds like you guys are breezing thru it.
how?
edit:
AP -
Wait, how are you guys breezing through it again?
I hear something about undead
-
Provided you have invisibility (I didn't get it yet, half way through the game), you still need plenty of mana and a very high intelligence to do enough damage to the enemy army. My mage is lvl 10 with 90 mana and 17 intelligence + higher magic and I can't destroy any army with just a single stack and 1lvl mana recovery during combat. Not enough mana and not enough damage. Glot's armor is only good at high level, in my case it's ok for one hit, so even in the same round you get damage. Fear is a good spell. I'm using it more and more further into the game when spell duration is increased and Higher Magic is @ 3rd level. Still, it won't save you from 5th level creatures and undead. Single stack tactics seem to be pointless unless you have dragons early into the game. By shielding the only stack you deliver 1/5 of the possible unit damage per round and this cannot be easily balanced with mana and intelligence, IMHO.
Wish I had Phantom and Invisibility by now, would make things much easier.
Played as a paladin and warrior and it was kinda boring and easy. Especially in AP and CW. The mage is challenging, imo. -
Here's some observation after playing a mage in 'the Legend' on impossible:
At lvl 10 with 76 mana and just 1 griffin I can totally annihilate ( <-
) an army of 70 knights, 187 guardsmen and 89 priests.
-
^^ Nice! So, you cast fear/blind on priests and (if you already have Higher Magic) invisibility/phantom/summon/etc?
gone to learn new tactics, lol. -
Care to elaborate how
-
Spam flaming arrow while flying around.
...Or use a spell called xxxxxxxxxx
which you can always find in one of the 4 starting areas. That's a hint.
-
Not so simple, you still need one of the following - fear/blind/invisibility. Also, your mana will be easily depleted if spell duration is only 2 rounds. So you need a min of 15int. Even in that case, it doesn't look like an annihilation to me if you don't have +8 mana recovery per turn.
-
I just finished the Legend with a mage on impossible, never bought any troops and always used a single stack. Every victory was flawless and I had to load a savegame sometimes.
Invisibility isn't affected by INT
