Whether it's downloaded from steam or torrent has nothing to do with it. The question stills tands. I am curious as to how you know which one you should have.

With Steam and Origin all of that stuff is automatic.

I imagine installing from disc should be similar. You are getting an error message saying you need to update DirectX but it doesn't tell you which one to download or automatically install the DirectX?

moviemarketing that isn't what I'm asking. Ok cool, it's automatic. I have x64 it came with the download. That. Is. Not. Relevant. I am asking HOW you can determine which version is correct for your computer.

usually there are 2 version, normal and then there is 1 with SP1. It can be installed together so it doesn't matter.
Unless you are in to computer programming, I really won't brother and just install all of them.

Your first post asks "how do I know which one to download"? Well if it's automatic you don't need to know which one to download, because, well....... it's automatic.

Now the difference between x64 and x86 is: x64 = 64 bit, x86 = 32 bit. Does that answer your question? (It should because you should then know if you have 64 or 32 bit and know which one to download. If you don't know what version you need based on the above information don't come In. Here. Posting. Like. This and expect an answer when you could have Googled this on your own)

You should have every1 32bit/64bit both. Some stuff don't run if you dun have 32.

DirectX Web Runtime installer usually download whatever you lack on your Windows install.

Download: DirectX End-User Runtime - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

For Visual C++ runtime you only need the x86 one for games unless they take advantage of x64.
But i installed both of them as with Flash, Java ect.
