Anyone checked out this game? It looks like a mix between Skyrim and God of War/Darksiders. Their combat system with the Skyrim leveling system. Looks cool.
Anyway theres a demo set to be out on all platforms on the 17th of Jan, so pretty soon!

I am actually looking forward to this the combat seems really cool and the worlds look amazing!Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Looking good.
Probably without performance issues too. -
Baka is very interested in this game
Baka heard that this will be a platform game first and if it's making a sequel it'll be as an MMO ._. -
Cautiously, but optimistically following this game...Curt Schilling (Red Sox bloody sock pitcher
) has always been a dedicated gamer and has secured gobs of cash for this studio, R.A. Salvatore (Forgotten Realms) has written the story/lore, and Todd McFarlane is incharge of art/character development.
Also, it was just announced that in a collaboration with EA, demos of KoA and ME3 will provide in game items for the other game...pretty neat agreement. -
Yeah, looking forward to this as well...They said all 3 platforms were developed simultaneously and the PC version isn't a port of the console...
-
Looks like a polished version of Dungeon Siege? very interesting
though I prefer RPGs like Baldur's Gate, Torment, Icewind Dale, this game looks more like WoW (incredible damage combos)

You get a ME3 DLC if you download/play the demo!

Isn't this the game that if you play the demo and watch the credits, you'll get some type of armor and something else to use in Mass Effect 3. Also, if you play the Mass Effect 3 demo you will get something to use in this game.

Demo went live yesterday...downloaded it and my son played a bit while I was getting ready for work this morning. I watched some of it and it seems promising. Graphics were very smooth on an 8800m GTS at medium settings, but didn't turn fraps on to see what frame rate it was getting. Nothing cutting edge graphically.
Lot of combat tactics possibilities from what I could see, but it was early in the demo and he was tearing things up pretty easily. He's playing Skyrim right now, and he says the game is comparable fun-wise from the short time he played it, but he is only 12 LOL.
I'll play it tonight and post more later. -
I really liked this game, it ran smoothly on my lappy with no problems. I was able to use my 360 wireless controller without any trouble. The only hacker/slasher games I've enjoyed this much were FF 7 (wow way back), and God of War(s). This is of course because I don't generally play games without a gun, lazer, phaser etc.
I'll probably buy this game while I wait for ME3 to be released. OOOH, I got the armor for ME 3 (yea me).

I was running it very smooth on max settings. It was alright, it felt like an MMO....probably because it was originally supposed to be one! Anyway, i got my ME3 DLC woohoo!

First impressions where good after playing the demo.
Think i might buy or even make a preorder on it.
Im getting the same fun as on Skyrim, just without performance issues. -
In my opinion it was an absolute piece of crap.
Environments looked bland, graphics are terrible and look like they're from 2008.
Combat is barely okay, but you can just mash attack and pretty much win. Animations are stiff with a weird freeze-frame before each attack.
The fact that weapons magically pop out of the body is really bothersome. Press defend and a shield magically appears, change weapons and they randomly come out of nowhere.
Overall, looks like dungeons and dragons: Daggerdale. If you're looking for a game like this, might as well get that (they deserve the same score too). -
Yeah, I miss Old-school RPGs. I hate having to turn to PSP for PSOne classiscs and other PS2 remakes for PSP.
There is Drakensang for Steam, but it's nowhere good enough. -

I'm enjoying the demo so far and I like the characters
edit: and it's running very well on my laptop -
I tried both PS3 and PC demos. Im more attracted to ps3 version since the control are smoother. But i find graphic are better on PC. Probly gonna pre-order the game as its my genre of game.
-
Also, something that is pretty pitiful is that if you knock down an enemy and you hit them again they warp back up to take the hit... I thought that kind of mistake wouldn't be in any modern games anymore.
-
it looks promising. i may pick it up. see if i can squeeze out low with no AA on my bootcamp 320m

Looks to fantastical for my taste... Idk. maybe I'm just weird.
-
Is it just me or does this look a lot like Fable 3 graphics wise?
-
I played the Demo and enjoyed it very much. Most def reminds me of Skyrim, God Of War and a few other Action/Adventure games out there. Seems to have a good story and looks great for what it is. And ofcourse the Mass Effect 3 content is always good to have...

Idk what the deal is, but I cannot play the demo.
After the opening credits I loose everything till customer creation. Then I get nothing again except the menu screen.

Thanks I just finished the demo. I actually enjoyed the game it is pretty fun!
I will probably buy this game. -
I let my younger bro play the demo and he was running around with his charactor (female) in underwear (no armor-nothing).
The charactor played just as well naked, as it would have if fully armored.
I thought when playing games like this it was important to have the right armor, weapons etc. Is it some type of glitch, are just the demo. Can someone educate me on this, since I really don't play these hacker slasher games.

Monsters don't want to hurt semi-naked women.
Chauvinistic world but what are you going to do... -
Well armor only makes a difference if you get hit obviously. Armor mitigates damage. So if you take away the damage then the armor is pointless.
I had a lot of fun with the demo. There are some minor things I didn't like though (most have been mentioned in this thread by Bearclaw already), but other than that it was a good game. It ran very well on the laptop in my sig at high settings/native resolution. The UI was really good by today's console port standards, though still not excellent by my PC standards. Combat was fluid and it gets a lot more fun once you leave the tutorial dungeon and start to get new skills and fight with enchanted weaponry. The graphics do resemble Fable 3, which I'm fine with it, but that won't appeal to everyone of course.
All in all, great game, but no pre-order from me. I'll wait and see how the full version fairs. It's the most promising new IP I've seen in a long time though. -
Looks good.
But as always, I'll wait until they drop the price and released all the patches. Tired of games released buggy at $60. I can be patient. -

I downloaded the demo because my little brother asked if it was any good and his internet is slow. I installed the demo, set up my video options the way I wanted, and was met with nothing but a black screen when out of menus. I can see the mini map and the hud but nothing else. When I hit esc to get back in the menu it worked perfectly, exited the menu, and the menu was blurry and now superimposed over the black screen. Went to the steam forums so alot of people had this issue although most were able to fix it by turning off post processing. I decided not to do this and just uninstalled the demo...

I've been following the Amalur forums a little bit...
Here is an IGN review in process while the author plays the game over the next few weeks to completion.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Review in Progress - PlayStation 3 Feature at IGN
Forum Thread:
ign review in progress update
Please note that the demo is from over 3+ months old code and was farmed out it sounds like to someone else to put together. Most sites have been positive so far on the game. Various bugs, balance issues, etc...which should be expected.
I have yet to play it due to lack of time myself. -
Looks like a fun action RPG for people who don't want to spend hundreds of hours delving into the full depths of a Skyrim game or learning the ultra-complex mechanics of TW2. I'm downloading the demo now. Plus, can't say no for additional costumes/weapons for ME3 (ME2 is my favorite game of all time).
Edit: are people playing it on the PC using a gamepad? If so, what gamepad do you recommend? I was thinking about getting a gamepad for the Arkham games and stuff like this. -
For players who would rather have the Playstation formfactor then Logitech offers both the F510 gamepad (wired) and F710 (wireless). -
I use a wireless official xbox 360 pad with this and it works perfectly.
-
Gotta be the X360 controller for windows, most games pick it up automatically and set the buttons up for ya.
-
Sounds like the XBox 360 controller is the way to go. Thanks everyone; I'll pick one up. Games like this and the Arkham games just don't feel right with mouse and keyboard.

The demo was ok/fun to me, but the game imo is not worth 60 bucks.
-
I just played through the demo too and I am not very impressed. I got too bored to even finish it, the auto camera never kept up with my character and the whole environment felt a bit generic and filled with props.
I think part of the problem is Skyrim, in that game I can interact with the environment a lot and it does so many things a lot better so when I play KOA, there is little reason to even bother. Perhaps the final release will be better so I will still keep an eye on this one. -
-
Partway through the demo. Not particularly overwhelmed. It's not bad, but not very special either. God of War I did the same combat idea, better, seven years ago. I'll probably play through the demo to unlock everything for ME3, and might pick it up a year after release for $10-$20, but not going to buy it when it's new for $60.
-
Am I missing something, or is there no way to save the game during the demo? I opened it up and I saw I couldn't resume from my previous game (apparently there were no auto-saves in the Well of Souls), so I started a new one. The "quick save" key mentioned in the key configuration didn't seem to do anything, and I couldn't find any option to save the game in the menus.
Anyway, it's a competent game, but it's lacking a unique feel or unique character. I don't have a lot of complaints about anything really wrong with it, but it doesn't wow me or draw me in either. -
No saves in the demo.
-
No saves in the demo is totally lame. I'd like to finish the demo to unlock all the ME3 gear, but it's hard for me to find more than 30-60 minutes at a time to play. How long is the demo start to finish? One hour? Two? I got out to the outside world when I shut down last time...how close is that to the end of the demo?
