Everything does indeed! I like to think I got a pretty decent deal. Around $1400 without an OS or hard drive.

What's up with everyone speaking in 3rd-person now? First Baka, then Vicious in that locked thread about Skyrim, and now this Kurtcocaine feller...

Anyways. I've put a few hours into KoA so far. It seems a hell of a lot like Fable to me, but deeper. So... probably enough to keep me occupied for a while, but not quite with the replay value/longevity of the Elder Scrolls games.

Unless the game actually offers some high graphical options not included in the demo ... I think that statement is not true.

Well, yeah, that's what my eyes say as well.. I mean, comparing these two screens: Amalur and Witcher2.. Well, I mean, it is obvious, isn't it? Model detailing, texture resolution, world & character lighting, shadowmaps, depth textures, model polygons..

What am I missing, that makes Amalur look almost as good as the Witcher2? Seriously, I'm drawing a blank there.

Just remembered ME3 demo is supposed to be available on Tuesday 2/14/12. I hope the downloadable cross over material is worth it. I been playing a while now, and I have my weapon and armor just right (for me). I don't want to have to reduce it to scrap. :D

As for the comments about the game, I say just let it go. Play it for, what it is a fantasy game. like I posted earlier I generally don't paly these types of games, but I'm having fun.

Do you remember where u got it? I have a level ten lightining based weapon, but does 90 damage.

Is there an airship in this game? If I did all this running in real life I'd be in great shape. :D :p Yes, yes I do fast travel.

Ok, i think i am starting to love KoA. Camera isnt that annoying when running outside.

What are you guys leveling? I went for BS > Sagecrafting > Alchemy? on a warrior. How do i craft?
Combat seem fun even on "normal" difficulty — if you dont strafe-dodge you get one shotted. Or maybe i just didnt do a lof of side quests and just went on the main quest on level 3 so its hard... dunno. I am running out of pots all the time.
You can only fast travel when near a well, right?

Right now I'm approaching level 19. I have a flaming sword that is level 15, my second weapon are those flying disks, forgot what their called, level 12. I bought both those weapons, sold everything thing I owned except for stuff that I had equipped. Tried to make weapons, but those did not come out strong enough. I've completed 51 quests, mostly side. I think the side quests help with leveling and such. Some of the quest are reaaaaally long (House of Ballards, thought it would never end). :D

Fast travel close to towns, wells spots that you have already been to. Running is great.

Question: I finished the Mass Effect 3 demo, how do I get the cross over stuff for KOA??

You can fast travel from outside to any other location, personally I've focused on blacksmith, detect hidden and persuasion with my character though you can reset them at any fate weaver for a fee. Sagecraft seems a better choice for a warrior over alchemy.

Managed to find myself a load of HP regen stuff for my warrior, traded off armour value for it but seems to work rather well.

*edit* The crossover stuff is in a chest at the first town, gorhart is it? just outside the inn.

Its all worth pursuing the main quest upto cannocec early on as one of the sidequests gives you a house with a storage chest in it.

You can craft in the first town also or any with a blacksmith, on the world map if you hover over a town it tells you if one is present, normally displayed by a hammer shape on the mini map when running around. You craft by salvaging parts from armour and weapons you don't need, you have to balance with selling stuff though or you run outa money lol.

OK, ok it finally happened. I got tried of trying to craft a weapon, and I hexed my money. I raised it to 1 million, now I can buy what I need. The game is good, but I got tired of running back and forth looking for stuff.

This is what I mean. I'm full level blacksmith also, but I had to buy my level 15 weapon. Do you make higher level weapons, or do you find them?? I'm at level 22 and I'm in the next to last area on the map, I've been warping back to all the shops, but the weapons level are only so high.

Just finished the Mel shin shar quest, great battle. Killed balyor, if you've played GOW (any one) you will know how to fight monster to big for screen. :D

Bought level 18 weapons in this town before fight. Don't think I really needed them, since all weapons I found were level 10.

Here are my thoughts after completing a game.
    in no particular order.

    - That talent in might that suppose to give damage boost on 20% is bugged and kills you lol
    - Leveling Smithing + saving 250k to buy prismere greatsword in rathir is a good idea
    - game was boringly hard first 10 levels. No real way to replenish hp sucks
    - once i got prismer GS and some hp / regen / lifesteal it became to easy >< My health never really dropped
    - i finished the game in 12 hours at level 22 even though i actually did quite a lot of sidequests
    - prismere armor never dropped for me not even in last dungeon (just weapons etc) i think it only drops after level 30 or smth.
    - didnt quite figure out how to make epic quality weapon. Everything that i mastercrafted was blue, i guess i lacked master components.

really good game. just because its so unexpectedly good i would give it 9/10

Wow, 12 hours is really short!

I agree that blacksmithing/siegecrafting is highly beneficial mid-game when you can buy prismere weapons since those have the highest base damage and are the best to craft with.

Though you might need to read up on blacksmithing cause some things don't make sense, e.g., some weapons using utility gems instead of weapon gems, and some weapons/armor not giving back the same parts when salvaged as when crafted. Not sure if these are bugs or intentional but definitely counter-intuitive.

Anyone else feel that Fae blades are grossly underpowered, even compared to daggers. They might look a lot cooler, and do more AOE than the daggers, but they seem to do horrid damage. Even when I backstab they barely do any damage compared to 1 hit dagger kills from backstab.

Kingdom of amalur is nothing but hack n slash though.

At first i thought there is an RPG element in character builds but then i realized that i have pretty much every single talent in might tree picked and there is not much choice as to gear either.

Then i thought that quests are not that linear but eventually i noticed that whenever you choose between answers like "i was glad to help" and "fk you, give me all your money and women now" even the REPLY doesnt change and both will result in something like "you have to move on, go there".

So ye, its hack n slash.

I've been running Might/Finese with Longswords/Daggers, but am thinking about switching to LS/Bow to give myself an increased range. Shadow flare is amazing for mid-range crowd control and does insane damage at close range, but I've found myself barely using daggers.

@Lieto some RPGS are linear, and that's what this what is appearing to be. Not all games are like Skyrim in that choices change the quest. Skyrim isn't even that amazing of a game so to say that any game that doesn't offer mechanics of Skryim isn't a great argument (and no I don't want to start a Skyrim vs The World flame war either). Also, if you go down more than 1 tree it'll be hard to max out the talents.

I'm at the final map. Just reached level 30, done 87 side quests. I've got all the red armor, during fights I lose track of my own player, everyone is in red armor. :D I'm a WAR LORD. I really enjoyed this game, I don't think I'll play through it again-TOOOOOO much running for me.

I have to agree on the weak faeblades part, it do around half damage per hit compare to dagger, and have so much time wasted when you finishing the chain.

Without relentless assault on, greatsword/hammer is almost unusable. (Well, unless you want to play like Monster Hunter)

Okay, I'll agree to Ultima and Eve, however Eve is very very niche, but would have to disagree with GW. As much as I loved GW it was very stereotypical Western style RPG of quest fetching; the pvp is where it seperated itself.

Maybe that would make sense if might didnt obilterate anything.

I am not comparing it to skyrim (in fact i had comparable amount of fun in amalur) i was just surprised that no matter what you choose in a dialog it doesnt change ANYTHING. Thats just hilarious.

while being "unusable" you are still unable to die and one shot (well 4 shot when it comes to red trolls) anything whenever you are able to pull *hold lmb - release" with greatsword.

What kind of performance are you guys getting in outdoor portions of the game? My setup is listed below in my sig. I have all of the in game settings turned up except shadows which I have set to normal. Resolution is 1080p and AA is 4x via CCC. I seem to be getting 40-50 FPS outside but sometimes it'll dip down into the high 30's. Is this common?

Okay, I finished this game, and it was pretty good. But, it just confirmed my thoughts on hacker/slasher type games-WAY TO MUCH RUNNING. My thumb actually started to throb, from the constant slashing (killing) of enemies (wheres an automatic when you need one). There was a lot to do. I did 89-90 side quests, and I still had a couple of side quests left over, to do after the main baddie was killed. The final boss, was a bit of a let down, bascially fighting a giant head (oversized baddie).

The one thing I enjoyed was learning how to use cheat engine 6.1. I complained to a friend and he said hack it with CE. I said WHAAAAAA??-behold a new world opened unto me. :p By the time I was down I learned to hack money, life and anything else I wanted-still got the best armor from guy before final boss. CE is awesome, I can make my own trainers now, no more searching the web or be tempted to buy them for me anymore. :D

    Onto ME3

Ugh, this game is too long. I'm sure I still have another 15-20 hours left. I keep getting sidetracked. Also I'm pretty sure there was more running in Skryim than KoA (Definitely way more in morrowind/Oblivion).

Just finished the game 2 days ago.

Left side of the map is actually fun when you leveling/trying new stuff.
    But
    Massive running
Loot being random ( Compare to like skyrim where there is "unique" items)
limited type of monster (around 10?)
Quest dialogue choice are BS ~~ I gave up reading them cause it doesnt matter...
I zerg the main quest once I cross the river xD

Late to the party, but with the game in the news (and with an Amazon.com e-gift that I didn't have anything else I wanted to buy with), I figured I'd pick this up. Only a couple of hours into it, but a few thoughts:

    (1) The story, while cookie-cutter high fantasy, isn't bad. Certainly more interesting than Dragon Age II.

    (2) Combat is remarkably good for an RPG. Very derivative of God of War, but that's not a bad thing at all.

    (3) As others have noted, the might tree seems overpowered. Regardless, I'm going to do a might/finesse character, not pure might, because I'm more interested in having an interesting character than the most powerful possible. Bows and longswords are my thing.

    (4) The lockpicking mini-game is pretty fun as far as minigames go. Better than any minigame the Mass Effect series came up with, in my opinion (except for maybe the unlocking minigame in ME1).

There must have been some gross mismanagement to bankrupt a studio after a game sold ~1.5 million copies in the first 90 days. Something doesn't smell right. Either financial incompetence at the upper echelon, or somebody was skimming.

Shame, because the game really is quite good. One of the more engaging RPGs I've played in a while. Superb gameplay and the story, while not amazeballs, isn't bad either.

because they spend a crapload of money developing it. Sure they sold ~1.5M copies, but they needed to sell 3M just to break even.
