Valve announced yesterday that L4D2 will be getting some new content (in the form of DLC I'm sure) early in 2010. It will feature a new campaign where you will meet up with the characters from L4D, which sounds pretty cool. Unfortunately, it seems like it's going to cost money (see end of article). Discuss.

Yay old cast.
I wish you can use them in the new game. -
does this mean there could also be an add on for l4d 1? with the old cast going to meet the l4d2 crew?

if it was just a new campaign, I guess I would be bitter about the pricing. But it sounds like they've got a lot of new stuff going on that will most likely be worth it for me. I'm sure a lot of people will be pissed off though about having to spend more money again on the L4D franchise so soon.

Maybe its free on PC like the other DLCs?

This has me amped up though.......wonder what new achievements will be added? -

8v8 versus!

So far, Valve has never charged PC players for any DLC for any of their games, with the obvious exception of expansion packs like the Half-Life 2 episodes, and even those are pretty reasonably priced.
I mean, just look at Team Fortress 2. Look at how far it's come since it first came out...and we haven't had to pay a dime extra for it. And they're in the middle of a new content update this week, too. -

So does this mean there will be 8 vs 8 teams?

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
I forsee Francis and Nick getting into snark battles, but since Nick is basically Francis but without his stupidity (Ellis got Francis' idiocy) Nick will come out on top.
For the uncommon infected, I'd like to see infected survivors, people who started out immune but ended up 28-Days-Latering down the road. Their special attribute will be taking PEELZ when injured. Wokka wokka wokka. -
1) the cash-grab/"roster-update" sequel
2) port to console
3) charge for content/patches
Still to come: 4) port to PC from console, 5) change moniker to "ValvEA"
PC gaming is in dire straits. -
I think you guys are freaking out over nothing. Nowhere did they say that the PC version wouldn't be free. And Valve has ported all of their games to the Xbox 360 since Half-Life 2, I don't see why that's a bad thing. They've always developed for PC first, and PC content updates have always been free. Once again, just look at the differences between the PC and Xbox versions of TF2.

What reason would they have to get out of Jimmy Gibbs car?

I think people are moving from pc to console as a platform, because it's easier to develop a games on fixed hardware and people are less likely to pirate (getting their serials blacklisted, etc)...
