    Anti TL;DR version is below.

If anyone remembers, I used to have issues with first my secondary, game-containing HDD had issues. Namely I would enter a consistency check, and at the end of the countdown it would freeze there. RMA'd the WD Black and eventually bought a Hitachi 7k500. Problem wasn't solved.

After getting my SSD (Intel g2 160GB, flashed with newest firmware), I was having the same issues, but this time with the SSD. There was much sadness. Thankfully, the problem seemed to go away on its own for a while.

    Guess what happens next.

Anyway, I've gone through different drivers, clean installed Win7 twice, plus even put in new hard drives. But now at least I think I've pinpointed the source of the problem, vaguely. Left 4 Dead 2. It always causes the computer to do consistency checks (on the secondary game files drive) after I've played for a bit.

I have no idea why. I've used basic MS SATA drivers, Matrix Storage Controllers, and IRST. All had the same problems, and all showed a complete lack of that problem when I didn't play L4D2. I'm at a complete loss as to the specific cause of the solution to this.

And to top it off, recently I'm crashing to desktop, too. No error, no warning, it just cuts out to desktop. GPU Temperatures are no higher than 65C. Event Viewer gives me error 55: File system structure is corrupt and unusable. (Even though chkdsk reports zero errors). I've reinstalled the game, verified file integrity, deleted the local cache files, and everything good old Google could give me. Well, there was a fix involving client-side-caching, but I can't seem to find the CSC folder in c:\windows.

    Gah. Sorry for the wordiness.

    Bump with info:

I've noticed after crashing to desktop that L4D2 starts to sync up for a second or two before it goes back to 100% ready.

Well, I dumped local files and did a fresh download of L4D2, and about forty-five minutes into a campaign I CTD. This is getting really, really annoying.

Except I'd like my laptop to actually work with this game. It's more than capable of running it.

There's also the problem that I don't have another computer.

EDIT: I think I solved it. I disabled the newest addon map I got, and played for a couple of hours crash free.
