I have been having problems with L4D2 lately. The crash begins with an audio loop, and then crashing me back to the desktop.

I have tried with both 186.81 and 186.82 GPU drivers and get crashes randomly. Only L4D2 is suffering from this problem

Running on Vista 32 Bit by the way. Anyone else experiencing said problem?

this has happened with many source games. check the steampower forums.

try 'verifying cache' or whatever the option is for the game to see if you're missing anything. it's most likely a steam or HL2 issue.

What do you mean by verifying cache exactly? I would like to avoid having to reinstall but if that is the only feasible way left to fix this issue, I guess I have no choice

Never had this problem with L4D1. My copy of L4D2 is retail though, would it be better if I download straight from Steam, instead of using the disc to reinstall the game?

right click the game, go to properties, I think, then "Verify game cache".

That should not be the case.

I've read that the problem with L4D is because of faulty programing by the Valve. I watched the demo and I liked it very much, so I began searching for it and that's how I found a forum that states the same problem. There was said that soon there will be an update available to download through steam. So just have to wait for now.
