    hey guys

Ive spent the last couple of days trying to get l4d to work, every time i try to run the game it plays through the intro movie and then crashes straight after that when the little ' loading' message appears in the bottom right corner, Ive fully updated the game, uninstalled and re-installed and still experience the same problems.
the error message says APPCRASH here is the screen shot......

Ive looked online but haven't been able to find a correct workaround for the problem although a number of people have experienced the same problem.
so anyone here had the problem or can offer up a solution id e very grateful
    cheers and take care.

What video driver are you using?

You can try reinstalling steam also.

I have same specs as you and I do get a lag spike of about 2secs when arriving at the main menu, but it doesn't crash very often.

I had several APPCRASH problems with left 4 dead before, to the point that data in the harddrive was being corrupted and I had to reinstall the game again. After failing to install windows 7, and reading that It might have been due to faulty ram, I ran memtest and it turned out that ram was indeed causing all the problems. So in short I would suggest running memtest and discarding it as a possible problem first.

Ok i recently ran memtest but ill do it again to remove it as a possiblity...thanks for the suggestion, if it was a ram issue id imagine id experience problems with more than one application though.
